πΏ National Reconciliation Week | 27 May β 3 June
National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect, learn and take meaningful action toward reconciliationβstrengthening relationships based on truth telling, respect and equality.
At West Wimmera Health Service, we know reconciliation must be supported by real, sustained action:
β
Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training is now mandatory for all staff every two years, with 92% compliance achieved quickly across the service.
β
We were proud to participate in the Grampians Region Health Service Partnership Aboriginal Health Innovation Initiative, contributing to region wide efforts to strengthen cultural safety and address barriers to care.
β
In 2026, we will form a working group to assess our organisation using the Lowitja Institute Cultural Safety Audit Tool, helping guide improvements and embed cultural safety.
This work acknowledges that cultural safety in healthcare remains underdeveloped and that ongoing, community led efforts are essential to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
National Reconciliation Week reminds us that reconciliation is not a one off event, but a continuous journeyβone we are committed to walking together.
