Community Notice: Galiwin’ku Clinic

Due to recent events occurring in the community overnight, Galiwin’ku Clinic will be open for emergencies only until Monday 21st September, then will be reassessed.

For staff safety, all people requiring emergency care will need to make their own way to the clinic.

Please only attend the clinic if it is an emergency. We appreciate the community’s understanding and support as we work to keep everyone safe.

Nhämirri bukmak,

The Miwatj Health Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Fiona Djerrkura was appointed Acting CEO at the beginning of August and will continue acting in the CEO role for a further 6 months.

Fiona has a strong knowledge of Miwatj Health, having been with the organisation for 19 years in a variety of roles, and understands the challenges and opportunities across our region.

The Board recognises Fiona’s commitment to strengthening the way Yolŋu ga Balanda work together. This partnership is essential to providing culturally safe, respectful and high-quality services to our Yolŋu communities.

Please join us in congratulating Fiona.

What we love about this djäma! Hear from some of our public health team in Gapuwiyak, and what they love about their djäma. Be a dhapirrk role model in your community! Speak to the clinic or public health team about djäma at Miwatj.

Earlier this month, Miwatj Health was proud to attend and support the 2026 Garma Festival, a celebration of Yolŋu life and culture.

Our clinic team ran a bush clinic, while the public health, social emotional and wellbeing, maternal health and Raypirri Rom teams were busy painting positive health and wellbeing messages, screen printing Yaka Ŋarali shirts and making healthy smoothies with our smoothie bike. Raypirri Rom was also invited to conduct a Girrigirri ceremony at the Youth Forum.

A big thank you to bukmak who visited, yarned with our teams and took part in the activities!
