The story of Socrates and the Triple Filter Test is a well-known lesson in how we handle information from others. When someone rushed to tell him news about a mutual friend, Socrates stopped them with three distinct filters: Is it true? Is it good? Is it useful? When the news failed all three, his conclusion was simple: “If what you want to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why say it at all?”
While this is traditionally taught as a guide for external gossip, it holds profound value when we internalize it.
In clinic today, a client and I explored how we can apply these exact same filters to our own internal dialogue. Our minds frequently present us with unhelpful narratives, old patterns, and anxious loops. By stopping those thoughts in their tracks and asking—Is this true? Is this good? Is this useful?—we give ourselves the power to intercept the behavior.
It allows us to make a conscious decision to change lanes, diverting our energy and focus toward thoughts that actually serve us in our lives right now.
I hope this perspective is helpful to you today. If it resonated, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
If you find yourself stuck in unhelpful thinking loops and feel you could benefit from professional support, let’s connect. I offer a complementary 20-minute chat where we can look at where you are right now, where you would like to be, and how our dynamic combination of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and NLP can support your mind and body.

A common question I get — especially when people discover I might not just be around the corner.

‘Is hypnotherapy as effective with an online appointment?’

The answer: ABSOLUTELY!

Yes, online hypnotherapy is just as effective as an in person face-to-face.

In fact, many of my clients prefer the comfort of working with me from home — no traffic, no stress, and they feel just as safe, seen, and supported as they would in the room with me.

What matters most isn’t the location of the session…

It’s the quality of the connection, the rapport, the method — and the transformation that follows.

And the great news is, wherever you are, whatever you want to achieve with hypnosis, you’re not too far away.

🧠✨ If you’ve been curious about trying hypnotherapy, NLP, psychotherapy counseling or a combination, we can book a complimentary discovery call and answer any questions you have.

Fifteen years ago, I booked my first hypnotherapy session because I was terrified of getting needles before a holiday.

That one session cracked open something bigger — the beginning of a journey that helped me face my anxiety, people-pleasing, fear of judgment, low self-worth… even my phobia of clowns.

Years later, when I went through a period of depression, I followed the typical path — GP, mental health plan, psychologist, psychiatrist, medication.
Some of it helped a little… but it didn’t shift anything deep. It didn’t teach me how to change what was going on inside.

I still didn’t feel like me.

Eventually, I found my way back to hypnotherapy — and that’s when everything truly started to change.

Not just coping, but transforming.
Not just getting by, but becoming free.

Now it’s my mission to help others experience that same transformation — and learn how to power up their mindset from the inside out.

If can relate… this is your sign.

Book a free discovery call today, it could be the next step in your big life change.

Many therapeutic approaches spend a lot of time digging into the why — “Why am I like this?” “Why did this happen to me?”

While understanding your story matters, it doesn’t always bring lasting change.

Strategic psychotherapy is different.
It helps you identify what’s really happening — the patterns, the beliefs, the habits — and how those patterns are playing out in your day-to-day life.

Rather than just asking why you feel anxious, we explore:

• What does anxiety do to you in the moment?
• How do you react to it?
• How has your mind learned to process uncertainty or pressure?
• How can we change that?

It’s a future-focused, solution-oriented approach that works at the level of behaviour, perception, and belief. It helps you develop new mental strategies — ones that are more aligned with the life you want to live.

It’s not about fixing you — it’s about equipping you.

Strategic Psychotherapy is utilised in all our clinical hypnotherapy session alongside NLP so we can tune in, tailor and provide the most holistic therapeutic approach to step you in the direction you wish to go.

Addiction is rarely about the substance or behaviour itself.

It’s about how we’ve learned to soothe pain, regulate emotions, or cope with unmet needs.

This cycle doesn’t mean you’re broken.

It means your nervous system is doing what it knows — even if it’s no longer serving you.

The good news is: patterns can change.

When we work at the subconscious level, we don’t just interrupt the cycle — we rewire it.

If this resonates, you’re not alone. And you’re not stuck.

Curious how hypnotherapy or NLP might support you?

Send me a message — I’m happy to talk you through what working together can look like. 🙏

We’re often taught to label emotions as good or bad — to pick one, to be clear, to be certain.

But the truth is, we are layered beings.

You can feel two (or more) things at once — and none of it makes you wrong.

You can be incredibly grateful for what you have… and still feel something’s missing.

You can be excited for what’s ahead… and still scared of the unknown.

You can be healing… and still have hard days.

Emotional complexity doesn’t mean you’re lost — it means you’re human.

When we stop fighting our mixed emotions and start understanding them, that’s where clarity and inner peace begin to grow.
