The body is incredibly intelligent. It stores what the mind couldn’t process. It speaks in sensation, tension, restriction and sometimes the physical symptom is the last place to show itself, not the first.

🥶 WHY THE FIRST 30 SECONDS OF AN ICE BATH FEEL SO BRUTAL

When you first step into the cold water, your body goes straight into fight or flight 🚨

Heart rate spikes.
Breathing gets faster.
Your brain is basically screaming, “WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?!” 😂

That initial adrenaline surge takes around 30–40 seconds to move through the body.

So what you do next matters.

Don’t fight the cold. Surrender to it.

Keep your lips sealed and focus on slow, controlled breathing in and out through your nose.

The cold hasn’t changed.

Your response to it has.

As you slow your breathing, your heart rate begins to slow down signally to your nervous system to shift away from that initial stress response.

Your body starts to relax.

And suddenly you realise…

Everything is calm.

That’s the practice.

Not learning to love the cold.

Learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable ✨

Still recovering from . Still a little sick. And yes… that’s tape on my nose. Because apparently this is what showing up looks like 🐐😂

But honestly, this is the work.

We spend so much time trying to think our way out of anxiety, overwhelm, poor sleep or feeling stuck.

But sometimes it’s not another thing you need to do.

It’s understanding what your nervous system has learned to hold.

Because your body can get very good at surviving a version of life that no longer exists.

And when that starts to shift, it can change more than how you feel in your body.

It can change how you move through life, how you respond, and who you believe you are.

That’s the level I’m interested in with Spinal Energetics.

Not just releasing tension.

Creating space for a different version of you to emerge🤍

We spend so much time trying to understand ourselves.

Why do I react like this?
Why can’t I let this go?
Why does the same pattern keep showing up?

So we go back.

We analyse.
We talk about it.
We try to make sense of what happened.

And sometimes that’s incredibly valuable.

But what if understanding the story isn’t always the same as changing the pattern?

Your body can learn something from an experience without you consciously deciding to learn it.

It can learn to brace.
To stay alert.
To disconnect.
To anticipate what might happen next.

And years later, your mind can know “I’m okay” while your body is still responding from an old template.

That’s the part I find fascinating.

Maybe the next step isn’t another deep dive into the past.

Maybe it’s creating enough new experiences for your body to discover:

I don’t have to respond the way I always have.

That’s the space I explore through Spinal Energetics. 🤍
