I think we’re sometimes sold a bit of a lie about creativity.

That if you’re a ā€œrealā€ creative you’ll wake up inspired, overflowing with ideas and desperate to get to work.

I call BS on that.

Some days I don’t want to create anything and would much rather do anything else!! But, what I’ve also realised is that if I just start creating, that almost always shifts.

So lately I’ve stopped asking myself whether I feel like creating and started checking whether I’ve shown creativity the respect and love it deserves that day.

Funny how quickly creativity stops feeling like work when you stop treating it like a factory and start treating it like a friend. šŸ™šŸ„°

Over the past year I’ve been creating Jordic, a six-part immersive sound project inspired by Nordic landscapes, traditions and our relationship with the living world around us.

One of the questions I get asked most often is:

ā€œWhat exactly is biofeedback, and how do you make music with a tree?ā€

Well, this short clip from my conversation with this morning attempts to answer that question!

Many thanks to Danny at 2SER for the conversation and curiosity. 🌲

Reflecting on the Integrated Leadership Intensive the other week.

One room, seven humans, one elephant 🐘 (or were there more?!?! šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚šŸ˜†) and a whole lot of transformation!

Every time I run these weekends, I’m reminded of the power of people coming together ready to do the work.

What a ride! I have so much love for all of you. Until next time šŸ¤—ā™„ļø

Today feels a little surreal in the best of ways!!!

Spruce (Song of Balance), the first release in my JORDIC project, is finally out in the world. šŸŒ²šŸŽ§

I’ve been carrying this project quietly for a long time, so seeing it finally take flight feels both exciting and slightly unbelievable.

This is the first piece of music I’ve created in partnership with tree biofeedback recordings gathered in Sweden, inspired by the Nordic Mindfulnessā„¢ principle of Balance.

Mostly though, it feels like the plane has finally left the runway.

The first step of a much bigger journey.

A little tip: this isn’t really ā€œput it on while you’re doing the washingā€ music šŸ˜„

Grab a good pair of headphones, switch off the distractions and let yourself sink into it.

I’d love to hear what you experience. 🌲✨ LINK IN BIO

Looking forward to facilitating this weekend’s Leadership Intensive and spending time with both familiar and new faces. 🄰

No matter how much preparation goes into a weekend like this, there’s always something that happens in the room that you can’t plan for… and that’s the part I love most

It’s a bit like playing jazz. You have a structure, but you also listen, respond and work with what’s actually there. The energy in the room always takes us somewhere unique.

Few things beat spending the weekend with people who are ready to step into a new level of leadership! Can’t wait to see what unfolds! ā˜ŗļø

So excited to finally share a small clip of an ever growing EnerTreeā„¢ļø project! SPRUCE (Song of Balance) releases 18 June.

Something has been shifting in me lately around integration.

Not because I’m becoming someone else.
Not because reinventing myself.
But because I’m slowly stopping the separation between all the different parts of me.

This piece is inspired by the Rowan tree, one of the few trees that can grow in both the northern and southern hemispheres. I recorded biofeedback from a Rowan tree here in Australia and layered it together with recordings from a mountain ash tree outside my childhood home in Sweden.

Two worlds, two environments, and two versions of self finding a way to exist together through sound.

I let the trees create the first melodies together and then sat with the recordings, listening for the moments that moved me. Still a work in progress, still needing tending but one movement closer to full expression.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how much energy we spend trying to organise ourselves into neat categories and identities while nature seems to thrive through complexity, contradiction, rhythm and relationship.

Perhaps real order isn’t rigid at all, maybe it’s alive and inclusive like the forest itself. Holding death, birth, rest and growth in one breath. What can we learn from that?

Anyway… here’s a little glimpse into the process.

Do you know about the Kolbe score? It helps you understand how you naturally operate and take action in the world.

I’m a 3393, which means I’m heavily wired toward vision, creativity, instinct, possibility, and starting new things, rather than structure, systems, repetition, and maintaining things long term.

Yep, can totally relate. šŸ˜‚

What’s also really cool is that it looks underneath the hood and helps me understand why I struggle in certain situations, where my strengths are, and where I need support, so I can work more in alignment with how I naturally function instead of constantly fighting against myself.

It’s also extremely useful in business, leadership, and team environments as it helps you understand how different people naturally work, communicate, problem solve, make decisions, and take action. Think@about it, when you understand the strengths and struggles within a team, it can completely change how people operate together.

Have you done the Kolbe score? And if so, what was your score and how has understanding it helped you? #3393

Humans are complex.

And complexity is uncomfortable.

When we don’t know how to hold it,
we outsource it.

That’s where guru culture begins.

Not because people are foolish.
Because ambiguity is hard on the nervous system.

The brain prefers closure.
Pattern.
Authority.
A clean story.

ā€œDo this.ā€
ā€œFollow me.ā€
ā€œThis is the answer.ā€

Certainty calms the anxiety of not knowing.

And when you’re in pain…
in transition…
questioning who you are…

someone else holding certainty can feel like safety.

But the cost of that relief
is authorship.

Self-silencing rarely looks dramatic.

It’s subtle.

The moment you feel friction
and decide they must know better.

When your body says no
and your mind replies,
don’t be difficult.

When your complexity gets labelled confusion.

So you shrink —
just enough —
to fit the framework.

And shrinking becomes normal.

But what if complexity isn’t chaos…
but capacity?

The capacity to hold multiple roles.
To feel opposing emotions at once.
To admire someone and still question them.
To build something — and outgrow it.

That isn’t inconsistency.

It’s maturity.

Yet we reward simplicity.
Clear labels.
Strong opinions.
Singular lanes.

So we collapse ourselves
into something digestible.
Marketable.
Certain.

And slowly we lose contact
with parts of who we are.

That’s when the shadow grows.

Self-authorship requires tolerating uncertainty.

Standing in:

ā€œI don’t fully know yet.ā€
ā€œI’m still integrating.ā€
ā€œI’m allowed to change.ā€

It doesn’t sell as easily as certainty.

But it creates stronger humans.

Perhaps the answer isn’t to fix our complexity,

but to build the capacity
to hold it ourselves.
