Happy Monday! It is a public holiday in several regions around Brisbane today, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to head to the Ekka to enjoy a day of rides, showbags, and show animals.

Whether you're braving the crowds on the People's Day holiday, catching the Grand Parade in the Main Arena, or just taking a well-deserved day off, here is a little Monday inspiration to get your week started:

"The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all."

Sharing is caring! 💚🧡 At Eden Care, we love extending the knowledge we share with our team out to our wider community. We hope these 5 hydration tips are helpful!

A final important note: If dehydration is a concern, please seek medical advice immediately. Carers should always advise their supervisor, particularly for participants with complex health needs. 💧

"In the rush of busy days, deadlines, and daily tasks, it's easy to overlook the small moments that make a difference. A kind word, a helping hand, a shared laugh, or taking a moment to appreciate a job well done can have a lasting impact.

Let's make time to celebrate the little wins, support one another, and appreciate the moments that often go unnoticed. They are the memories and achievements that truly matter.

Wishing everyone a positive and productive day and week. 🌿"~C.H penned with love from the Admin Desk at Eden Care Support Services ❤️

Disability Pride Month in Australia adoption has been an evolving, grass-roots movement rather than beginning on a single official date:

1. International Origins (1990 & 2015)

July 1990: Disability Pride initially originated in the United States to celebrate the landmark signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990.

July 2015: The celebration formally expanded into Disability Pride Month worldwide on the 25th anniversary of the ADA. Australian advocates and organizations increasingly adopted July as Disability Pride Month around this time.

2. Early Australian Disability Pride Milestones

Before July was widely adopted across the nation, Australian disabled activists laid the foundation for disability pride:

1981: Activist Lesley Hall famously protested the Miss Australia Pageant, challenging beauty standards that excluded disabled women.

2010s: Late disability rights pioneer and comedian Stella Young helped popularize disability pride, self-advocacy, and anti-ableism in mainstream Australian media.

2015: Adelaide hosted Australia's first Disability Pride Parade.

2017: Artist Larissa McFarlane created Australia’s first dedicated Disability Pride mural in Melbourne.

3. Organized Festivals & Formal Recognition (2021–Present)

2021: Disability Pride Sydney launched Australia’s first formal annual Disability Pride festival.

2022: Inner West Council in Sydney became the first local Australian government body to officially fly the Disability Pride flag.

Today, NDIS service providers, community groups, and local governments across Queensland and Australia observe July as Disability Pride Month to promote inclusion, celebrate identity, and eliminate societal stigma.

Happy Monday!
Today's message is a reminder to never be too hard on yourself. We are all perfectly imperfect, we all make mistakes & that's ok. "We learn from our mistakes", "we live and learn", are commonly used phrases but it is worth really thinking about these well used words. Sometimes we can get caught up in a sense of failure, embarrassment, frustration or even fear but the opposite side of this is opportunity, growth, confidence and strength. If we own and acknowledge mistakes we give ourselves a chance to learn, do better and move forward so there's actually more positive potential than negative impact 👌
Have a great week everyone. 💚
