They had a lovely afternoon of indulgence with a variety of sweet refreshments paired with fresh coffee and tea, in the company of good friends. ❤️

👋 "My name is Bi Yun Wood. I feel lucky to have been able to transfer from Ashburn House in Sydney to Maranatha in Queensland, and to work with a supportive and amazing team. I have been working and learning so many things from our Wellbeing team, as there is always something new and fun to experience!

I have lived in Queensland for more than eight months now and enjoy the warm weather here. I was born in Taichung City, the third largest city in in Taiwan, and it is a vibrant and colourful city and known for its pleasant weather, creative arts, and world- class food scene - and it is the birthplace of bubble tea! It was full of lovely memories and much fun back then. I still miss my family and friends in my country. I now call Australia my second home as I have been living here for more than 23 years.

Before I settled down in Australia, I had been working and travelling to different countries. I worked in an international school in Indonesia for few years, after that I lived in Hawaii for two years, and visited different countries. I have been working for aged care for more than eight years, in addition, I have also worked for Mental Health Carers NSW for many years; the work has given me deep insight about what life is about and an appreciation of my life.

People may ask me why I want to work in aged care, the reason is simple: because I believe the elderly should have fun and enjoy their life too.

In my spare time, I enjoy simple pleasures in life, such as cooking, reading, gardening, walking/bushwalking, painting, and watching TV of course. I also love spending time with friends over a meal or a cuppa. I feel very privileged to be able to have my time with the residents here and share a cuppa with them which gives me a great pleasure too." 🩷

❄️️ Chocolate was flowing and residents were glowing as Courtlands Aged Care celebrated Winterfest with a Winter Wonderland Tea Party!

Afternoon tea was served with finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pikelets topped with fresh cream and blueberries. For a true indulgence residents dipped sliced bananas and strawberries into a decadent chocolate fountain.

There were spontaneous sing-alongs, dancing, and cheers to thank the staff at the end the afternoon. 💙

💕 After meeting on a blind date 77 years ago, Courtlands Aged Care residents Colin and Betty built a life and family that has valued community and connection.

Today, at the remarkable ages of 100 and 96, they continue to live by those values by embracing all aged care has to offer.

👋 "Hi everyone! My name is Ashlyn-Kayte, but everyone calls me Ash. I’ve recently joined the team at Ashburn House as a Wellbeing Coordinator after moving down from Brisbane in late January.

My journey with Christadelphian Aged Care began three years ago when I started as a 16-year-old trainee at Maranatha, the Brisbane Christadelphian Aged Care Home.

I’ll admit, starting so young was a bit scary at first, but those initial nerves quickly turned into a deep love for my job as I realised how much I value building meaningful connections with the older generation, their families, and our volunteers.

I truly cherish hearing our residents’ incredible stories and life advice, and in my role at Ashburn House, you can usually just follow the loud voice to find me singing, dancing, or having a good laugh with them.

Outside of work, I love attending my church’s youth events to stay connected with my friends from all over Australia, and I’m always on the phone chatting with my family every chance I get outside of work since I can’t see them in person as often now.

I am so excited to be here and can’t wait to get to know you all!"

Welcome Ashlyn-Kayte! ♥️

What a fantastic week we had at the Brisbane Conference 2026! We joined together with Olivet Care and Bethsalem Care to spread the word about our care communities around Australia, and provide practical information for those looking for retirement and aged care services.

Check out the short video we shared at the first dinner of the conference, and photos from our booth.

Thanks to everyone for the conversations, memories and support as we strive to reflect God's love in all that we do.
