👋 "My name is Bi Yun Wood. I feel lucky to have been able to transfer from Ashburn House in Sydney to Maranatha in Queensland, and to work with a supportive and amazing team. I have been working and learning so many things from our Wellbeing team, as there is always something new and fun to experience!
I have lived in Queensland for more than eight months now and enjoy the warm weather here. I was born in Taichung City, the third largest city in in Taiwan, and it is a vibrant and colourful city and known for its pleasant weather, creative arts, and world- class food scene - and it is the birthplace of bubble tea! It was full of lovely memories and much fun back then. I still miss my family and friends in my country. I now call Australia my second home as I have been living here for more than 23 years.
Before I settled down in Australia, I had been working and travelling to different countries. I worked in an international school in Indonesia for few years, after that I lived in Hawaii for two years, and visited different countries. I have been working for aged care for more than eight years, in addition, I have also worked for Mental Health Carers NSW for many years; the work has given me deep insight about what life is about and an appreciation of my life.
People may ask me why I want to work in aged care, the reason is simple: because I believe the elderly should have fun and enjoy their life too.
In my spare time, I enjoy simple pleasures in life, such as cooking, reading, gardening, walking/bushwalking, painting, and watching TV of course. I also love spending time with friends over a meal or a cuppa. I feel very privileged to be able to have my time with the residents here and share a cuppa with them which gives me a great pleasure too." 🩷
