New blog post!

How do you know when it’s time to see a psychologist? 🤔

In this month’s blog, we explore some of the signs that it might be time to reach out for support, what to expect when seeing a psychologist for the first time, and some of the different ways you can access mental health support. We’ve also included updates on the Medicare rebate, which increased from 1 July 2026.

Are you finding it difficult to feel connected, understood, or fulfilled in your relationships?

Kate Campbell, our registered psychologist and sexologist at Amara Wellness Psychology, provides a safe and supportive space for adolescents (12+), adults, and couples to explore relationship challenges, intimacy, identity, and the parts of life that can feel difficult to talk about.

Kate supports clients navigating anxiety, trauma, relationships, sexuality, gender and more with practical, grounded and evidence-based approaches. She draws on CBT, attachment work, interpersonal therapy, and trauma-informed care to help clients better understand themselves and their relationships.

With training in sexology, Kate also supports clients exploring sexuality, kink, and ethical non-monogamy in a space that is respectful, inclusive, and free from judgement.

This August, we're embracing Tradies National Health Month, led by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), and this year's theme, "Wear the Conversation." 🔨💙

Working in the trades can be physically demanding, but the mental load can be just as significant. Long hours, pressure to keep going, and looking after everyone else often means your own wellbeing often gets pushed aside.

"Wear the Conversation" is a reminder that talking about your mental health is just as important as looking after your body. Whether it's checking in with a workmate, opening up to someone you trust, or reaching out for professional support, every conversation matters.

You don't have to wait until you're struggling to ask for help. Looking after your mental wellbeing is one of the strongest things you can do.

This August, take a moment to start the conversation with yourself, a mate, or someone you trust.

Our team at Amara Wellness & Psychology is always here to listen and support you whenever you're ready. 💙

Injured at work and feeling unsure what comes next?

Trying to navigate a WorkCover claim while recovering can be a lot to manage.

From the start of the process, seeing a GP, explaining what’s happened, filling out forms, and then waiting for updates. It can feel even harder if you don’t have a regular GP or you’re having to repeat your story to different people along the way.

At Amara Wellness & Psychology, we provide counselling support for people with WorkCover claims and can help guide you through the process along the way. If you have a claim number, you may be able to access counselling sessions with our team, and in some cases, support can begin while your claim is still being processed.

If you’re unsure where to start, feel free to reach out via our bio or the following to our team:

Have you ever found yourself Googling late at night, trying to make sense of what your child is going through?

Wondering if what you’re noticing is just a phase, or if there’s something more you could do to support them?

When your child is struggling, it’s natural to want to understand what’s happening and find the right way to help.

Our registered psychologist, Jerome Gillbard, works with children (12+), adolescents, and adults from our North Perth practice. He provides a safe and supportive space where people can explore their experiences, feel understood, and build strategies that support their wellbeing.

Jerome supports children and adolescents with concerns including anxiety, ADHD, stress, low mood, self-esteem, school and learning difficulties, life transitions, emotional challenges and more. He also provides ADHD, cognitive, and learning assessments to help families better understand their child’s strengths, needs, and how they can best be supported.

Every child’s journey is different, and Jerome works collaboratively with each young person to provide support tailored to them.

📱 Do you have a hidden safe phone?

The Australian Government is introducing AusAlert, a new national emergency warning system that will send alerts to compatible mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches during emergencies such as bushfires, severe weather events and public health incidents.

A nationwide test will take place at 12:00pm (AWST WA) on Monday 27 July 2026.

During the test, devices that are switched on may:

⚠️ Vibrate
⚠️ Play a loud siren-style sound for around 10 seconds
⚠️ Automatically wake or light up the screen

The alert may still sound even if the device is on silent, Do Not Disturb, or the volume is turned down.

If your safe phone needs to remain hidden, you may wish to consider these options before the test:

✅ Leave the phone with someone you trust or store it somewhere safe before 27 July.
✅ Switch the phone to aeroplane mode before the test and leave it that way for 24 hours.
✅ Turn the phone off completely at least one hour before the test and keep it switched off for 24 hours.

For more information about the AusAlert test, visit ausalert.gov.au.

If receiving this alert could affect your safety, call 000 in an emergency or reach out to:
