Strategy Series #4 🌈 | Sensory Supports

Sometimes we don’t realise how much sensory input is affecting us until we’re already exhausted, irritable, overwhelmed, or finding it harder to think.

Sensory supports don’t have to be something we reach for only when things become too much. They can also be proactive tools that help an Autistic or ADHD nervous system stay within a more comfortable range throughout the day. 🧠✨

That might look like:
🎧 reducing noise or using headphones
🕶️ adjusting lighting or other visual input
💪 adding proprioceptive input through resistance or heavy work
🌿 building movement into the day

There’s no one sensory strategy that works for everyone — what feels regulating for one person may be uncomfortable for another. The goal is to notice what *your* nervous system responds to and build supports around that.

💾 Save this post to come back to when you’re thinking about your own sensory needs.

What sensory support makes the biggest difference for you?

Part 7 is here !

Low spoon days happen to all of us. Instead of seeing them as something to "fix," what if we saw them as information? They can help us notice our needs, adjust our expectations, and respond with a little more self-understanding.

Part 6 is here!

This week we're talking about our biggest spoon takers.

When we know what drains our energy the most, it becomes a little easier to prepare, plan ahead, and support ourselves in ways that actually work for us.

Part 5 is here!

Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be exploring different strategies we can use to support ourselves. Not every strategy will work for every person and that's totally okay. The goal isn't to do them all, it's to find what works best.

Hint hint ... some awesome resources will be available on our website soon, we'll keep you guys updates !

Part 4 is here !

Ever push yourself just to get through, even when you’re running on empty?
You’re not alone. Sometimes we borrow spoons from tomorrow to make it through today, and even if we look fine on the outside, the crash can hit later. This post is all about what that feels like, why it’s valid, and some ways we can communicate it to others.

Part 3 of the Spoon Theory series is here!

Today’s post is all about why neurodivergent people don’t start every day with the same amount of energy, what “high spoon” and “low spoon” days can look like, and why that’s completely normal.

I’m sharing examples, experiences, and reminders that your needs are always valid no matter how many spoons you have.

We’re in this together!

Hey everyone!

As we continue unpacking Spoon Theory, the next part of this series will explore why we don’t start every day with the same amount of energy, and what low-spoon and high-spoon days might look like.

Hey everyone !

We’re starting a short series exploring Spoon Theory as a way of understanding how energy and capacity work in daily life.

Originally developed to describe the experience of people living with chronic fatigue and/or chronic pain, it’s also something many neurodivergent people relate to when thinking about how everyday activities can affect physical, emotional, sensory, and social energy.

It’s a great way to remember that energy looks and feels different for everyone.

Part 2 of out series will explore what might cost us spoon and the everyday realities neurodivergent people may experience.
