Your symptoms are signals — not something to simply dismiss as “just hormones.”

If you’re experiencing unexplained changes in **energy, mood, weight, sleep or other symptoms**, it can be worth asking *why* they’re happening rather than assuming hormones are the whole story.

Understanding the underlying factors can be an important first step toward better women’s health, hormone health and metabolic health.

Could high blood sugar be affecting more than your metabolism?

Insulin resistance and elevated HbA1c are important markers of metabolic health, and emerging research continues to explore the relationship between blood sugar regulation, insulin resistance and brain health.

In this video, we explore high HbA1c, insulin resistance and their potential connection to cognitive health — and why looking beyond a single blood marker can be important.

Want to understand your metabolic health more deeply?
Comment “INSULIN” to learn more.

Why does weight gain feel so much harder during menopause?

As oestrogen declines during perimenopause and menopause, changes in insulin sensitivity, body composition, appetite regulation and metabolism can make weight management feel very different.

For some women, this can mean increased abdominal fat, changes in blood sugar regulation and greater difficulty losing weight — even when they feel like they're doing everything “right.”

Menopause isn't simply about changing reproductive hormones. Understanding the connection between oestrogen, insulin resistance and metabolic health can help you understand the bigger picture.

Lost weight on a GLP-1 medication, only to gain it back? You're not alone.

GLP-1 medications can be an effective tool for weight management, but weight regain after stopping or reducing treatment is a common concern.

Understanding what is happening with your metabolism, insulin sensitivity, appetite regulation, muscle mass and overall metabolic health can be an important part of creating a sustainable approach to weight management.

The goal isn't simply to focus on the number on the scales — it's about understanding why your body is responding the way it is and what may be contributing to weight regain.

Your liver does more than detox — it plays an important role in hormone and vitamin D metabolism.

The liver is involved in the conversion and metabolism of vitamin D, while liver detoxification pathways also play a role in the metabolism of oestrogen and progesterone.

As hormones change through perimenopause and menopause, shifts in these pathways can influence markers such as cholesterol, vitamin D and SHBG (s*x hormone-binding globulin).

Understanding the liver, hormones and metabolism together can give you a much clearer picture of what may be changing in the body.

Thyroid fatigue can feel very different from ordinary tiredness.

Waking up exhausted, needing a nap, crashing in the afternoon, or sleeping through the night and still feeling unrefreshed can all be signs worth investigating.

Thyroid health is about more than simply looking at TSH and T4. Understanding how thyroid hormones are produced, converted and used throughout the body can provide a more complete picture of thyroid function.

If you're experiencing ongoing fatigue or thyroid symptoms despite medication, it may be worth discussing a broader thyroid assessment with your healthcare practitioner.

Leptin is about more than hunger and fullness.

As oestrogen changes during perimenopause and post-menopause, appetite regulation and metabolic health can change too. Some women may experience increased hunger and sugar cravings, while others notice very little appetite but still experience changes in weight.

One important piece of the picture is leptin resistance. Leptin plays a role in energy balance and communicates with the brain about the body's energy stores. When leptin signalling becomes impaired, it can be associated with changes in appetite, fat storage and metabolic health.

Understanding leptin, insulin resistance and visceral fat can help explain why metabolism may change as oestrogen declines.
