How do you stay motivated over the colder months??
The nights and early mornings are getting chilly, the jumpers are coming out of the back of the wardrobe and the desire for rich hearty meals is starting to sound a lot more appealing!!
Getting out of bed to exercise through winter is hard for most of us, and the thought of pulling the covers up over our bodies to stay warm definitely feels like the more enticing option, but here is what we need to remember...
1. How good do you feel once that sweat session is done and the endorphins are circulating in your body ready to conquer the day?
2. How much easier is it to get back to summer motivation and back into swimwear if you never stopped training?
3. You absolutely can eat hearty wholesome food through the colder months, just be mindful of portion sizes and timing.
Now that it's cooler, is it possible to add a quick session to your lunch break? Could you park a little further from work so you have to walk a bit more? The idea is to find the little pockets of opportunity and what is going to work for you, as it all adds up to your total output over the week.
If you do prefer to get it out of the way in the morning, try this little trick... The night before, have your fitness wear out ready to go and don't make the snooze button an option. When that alarm goes off, get into that activewear and just get out the door. Eliminate time for second thoughts and contemplation, and before you know it, the session is done!!!! Sometimes easier said than done, but at least give it a go and see if it works for you!
As with all our nutritional advice at Your Fit, it's all about balance!
We do not believe in starving ourselves of what we love most or labelling food "good and bad". Instead learning the awareness of choice and balance. Asking yourself "why" you're finding it hard to stop at one serve, and notice the behaviour and patterns of when and why this may be occurring. Sometimes it's a little more complex than the food you're eating!!
If you have tried every latest fad diet and find yourself in the same place 2 months after starting, maybe it's time to actually have a chat to one of our amazing dietitians or trainers!
