We’re very excited to welcome Os’Nails to Barossa Village! 💅✨

From Monday, Olivia will be joining us every Monday and Tuesday, bringing her talent, creativity and a little extra pampering to our community.

We love being able to welcome local people and businesses into Barossa Village, while making more great services accessible and enjoyable for those who call our community home.

Olivia is a qualified nail artist offering acrylics, refills, nail art and more, with special pricing for the Barossa Village community.

Meet Melissa, one of the registered nurses who makes up our Community Nursing team.

Melissa has worked across a range of nursing specialties, but says nothing compares to the reward of community nursing. Being able to care for people in their own homes means her clients get to stay somewhere familiar and comfortable, while still getting the support they need to live well.

She walks into every home with a positive, friendly attitude, and it shows. Building genuine relationships with her clients is what makes the job so meaningful, and she feels proud and grateful every single day to be doing work that gives back to the community.

There's something satisfying about heading home knowing you've done something positive for yourself, and that's exactly how Phil feels after every hydrotherapy session.

Living with hip and back pain, hydrotherapy has become an important part of helping him stay active and better manage his mobility. But it's also become a highlight of his week thanks to the conversations, laughter, and friendships he's built with the people around him. Exercising alongside others means he's looking after his health while enjoying great company at the same time.

Phil says he always leaves the pool feeling better than when he arrived, and that's a feeling worth chasing!

For Dawn, art has never just been about the finished piece. It is about the peace that comes with making it.

Twenty years ago, Dawn started exploring different creative outlets, but it was beadwork that truly stuck. There is something about the slow, careful rhythm of it that she finds deeply relaxing, a craft that gives her hands something to do while her mind settles.

When Dawns deep in a piece, the world outside feels lighter. Problems that once felt like mountains have a way of shrinking down to size. It is not just a hobby for Dawn. It is a way of understanding people a little better, and a reminder that what she makes matters, even if it simply inspires someone else to pick up a needle and thread for the first time.

Sienna is a 13 year old Yamatji, Noongar, Mara and Alawa girl living on Kaurna and Ngadjuri Country. Painting since she was young alongside her mum and brother.

Her style is dot painting, rich with bush medicine themes and symbols passed down through her culture. Sienna is drawn to pinks, oranges and bright colours, choosing them because they feel happy to her, a reflection of the joy she finds in the process itself.

For Sienna, creating art is calming, and she loves the freedom of it, using whatever colours she wants and letting the piece become whatever it wants to be. Having her work displayed means more to her than recognition. It means she gets to share her stories with everyone who sees it.

Watercolour has only recently entered Tabitha's life, but it has already become something close to meditation for her.

She still calls herself a beginner, but that hardly captures what happens when she sits down to paint. The rest of the world falls away. Two hours can pass without her noticing, without a single worry or overthought moment creeping in. Just colour, brush, and the quiet of being fully present.

Sasha is a Yamatji and Noongar woman from Western Australia, creating contemporary Aboriginal art.

Sasha has been creating on and off since she was a child, and what drives her work today is the chance to tell her own stories and her family's stories. Through her art, she shares the strength of Aboriginal culture, and it has become a way for her to understand and learn more about her own heritage, so she can pass it on to her children.

For Sasha, painting is where she loses herself completely. She finds it deeply therapeutic, the kind of activity she can sit with for hours at a time. She sees SALA as a wonderful initiative, and values being part of a community of living artists. Being able to showcase the breadth of art and the different experiences of different people is something she feels is genuinely important.

Pat has called Barossa Village home for seven years, and has been creating art for around five of them.

Needlework and knitting are Pat's crafts of choice, something she has always found relaxing, having enjoyed working with her hands for as long as she can remember. Lately she has turned her attention to dot art, and there is real satisfaction in finishing a piece.

Pat lights up when someone stops to admire her work and tells her she has done well. It is a small moment that means a great deal, a reminder that she can still create something worthwhile. Her advice to anyone thinking about giving it a go themselves is simple. Do not say you cannot do it until you have actually tried.

Eulie only picked art back up again after retiring and moving to Barossa Village.

Her creative inspiration comes from a memorable trip to Japan, and she has found herself drawn back to that time and those memories through her work. Eulie laughingly describes herself as a bit of a magpie, always drawn to shiny things, and that love shows through in what she creates.

For Eulie, SALA is something to be genuinely excited about. It gives everyone in the village a rare opportunity to share their work, something she says you do not often think about when you are simply creating for yourself. Now, knowing others further afield will get to see it too, she could not be more thrilled.
