🥶💚 Oakey parkrun #412 – What a Morning!

The thermometer might have been struggling, but our parkrun community certainly wasn’t! A crisp winter morning, plenty of happy faces and an incredible atmosphere made for another brilliant Saturday at Arthur Shooter Park.

A massive congratulations to our new PB superstars:

🙌 It’s parkrun eve! 🙌

Tomorrow morning we’re back at Arthur Shooter Park, and we can’t wait to see everyone for another fantastic Oakey parkrun!

Whether you’re running, jogging, walking, volunteering or simply cheering from the sidelines, there’s a place for everyone at parkrun.

👏 Before we even start, let’s give a massive high five to our incredible volunteers! 👏

Every timer, marshal, barcode scanner, finish token volunteer, photographer and tail walker is giving up their Saturday morning so the rest of us can enjoy a safe, free and welcoming event. If you see one of our hi-vis heroes tomorrow, make sure you thank them—they’re the heart of parkrun! 💚

⛄ Oakey parkrun #410 ⛄

❄Brrrrrr!!!!!❄ It was a cold one this morning with temps in the negatives but 52 brave souls were keen for Christmas in July & who could blame them!🎅🎄

There was a lot of Christmas cheer around Arthur Shooter Park, with plenty of laughs, encouragement, jackets & jumpers being removed after the first lap and the usual friendly Oakey vibe.

It was great to welcome all our visitors but especially the Redland Bay Homers who put in a great effort to impress Santa. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Oakey and look forward to seeing you again soon!

So set your alarm clocks, put on your warm Xmas attire and get amongst it! Chase that PB, enjoy a chilled❄️walk with friends, volunteer, or join us for some festive cheer and if you've been good Santa may have left a little sweet treat for braving the cold 🎁🍬

Join us for our Christmas in July special event and help us fill Arthur Shooter Park with festive fun! Whether you’re a regular, haven’t been for a while, or have been thinking about giving parkrun a go, this is the perfect weekend to join us.

🎅 Wear your best Christmas gear (or just a Santa hat!)
🏃 Walk, jog, run or volunteer – everyone is welcome.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Bring your family and friends.
