BREATH Study – Oberon Medical Centre

Oberon Medical Centre is taking part in the BREATH Study, a research project aiming to find better ways to understand and treat people who experience breathing difficulties. This study is being conducted in partnership with The George Institute for Global Health and The University of Notre Dame Australia.

Selected patients may receive an email or SMS from Oberon Medical Centre with information about the study. Please be assured that this is genuine and not a scam.

Dr Ayngkaran, Dr Ganesan, and Dr Roselina will be participating in this research study.

When eligible patients book an appointment with us, through BetterConsult they will receive some BREATH Study questions about their breathing and health to complete online.

✅ Participation is completely voluntary
✅ Your usual medical care will not be affected if you choose not to participate
✅ Follow-up questions may be sent at 3, 6, and 12 months after the first questionnaire

Today, the Oberon Fitness and Leisure Centre hosted a special Go Pink Campaign morning tea as part of their June community awareness activities.

Dr Roselina Habib from Oberon Medical Centre delivered an informative presentation on breast cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, routine breast screening, and being aware of any changes in breast health.

Key advice shared during the session included:

• Perform regular self-checks and become familiar with what is normal for your body
• Do not ignore symptoms such as lumps, skin changes, ni**le discharge, or persistent pain
• Attend routine breast screening appointments as recommended
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, balanced nutrition, limited alcohol intake, and smoking cessation
• Seek medical advice early if any concerns arise
• Encourage family members and friends to prioritise preventive health checks

The session also reinforced the message that early diagnosis can greatly improve treatment outcomes and overall wellbeing. It was wonderful to see the community come together to support awareness, education, and women’s health.

We are pleased to announce that the
♦️RSV Vaccine Government Program will commence at Oberon Medical Centre from 15th May.

Our team recently attended an education session to ensure we are ready to provide the latest advice and care for our community.

Eligibility includes:♦️
• ❇️Pregnant women (as per NSW Health guidelines)
• ❇️Adults aged 75 years and older
• ❇️Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and older

RSV can cause serious illness in babies and older adults, so vaccination is an important step in protecting our community.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums out there 💐

As mothers, we wear many hats every single day — caring for our families, supporting others, working hard, organising life, and still trying to give our best with love and kindness. Sometimes we feel like we are still learning, still balancing, still growing… but every day we keep trying, and that itself is something to be proud of.

To all the wonderful mothers in our team and all mothers everywhere — thank you for your strength, patience, compassion, and endless multitasking abilities. We may not be perfect, but we do our best, and that is more than enough ❤️

Outreach Health Hub – Black Springs

Our recent outreach visit to Black Springs was a great success. We provided flu and COVID vaccinations to local residents and supported the community with health advice.

It is always a pleasure to support isolated communities and help address local healthcare needs.
