HAVE YOU HEARD?
Medicare are making additional changes to the way clinics can accept payment for bulk billing effective 1st July 2026.
The impost on clinics and its staff has been recognised, and we have now been advised that there will be an additional period of time to allow us to get everything in order.
WE ASK YOU
to please do some research of your own on the process for Assignment of Benefit forms and how that relates to you, the patient, when your doctor bulk bills you, and why we will be making changes to our processes in the coming weeks and months.
to please be patient and understanding with our staff as we implement these changes and ask you to complete registration forms for Mymedicare, to 'click on links' for telehealth consultations and ask you to click 'ok' on the Tyro terminal
to please ask questions if you do not understand why we are asking you to complete things and why things have to change.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT
the benefit that is paid by Medicare is actually paid to YOU the patient, not the doctor. If you are bulk billed, your doctor is accepting the rebate as payment for your consultation, and this is why YOU need to give us consent to ask Medicare to pay the rebate to your doctor and not to you, this is done by the patient signing an Assignment of Benefit form as consent.
When you come to the clinic, you need to always see admin staff before leaving the clinic so that the Assignment of Benefit form (AOB) is completed by either signing a physical document, or via our Tyro terminal.
When you have a telehealth consult, you will receive a text message/email asking you to click a link that will electronically complete the above process. If you do not receive this link by the end of the day, it is your responsibility to follow up with the clinic, (this is an automated process, we cannot tell if you have or haven't received a link) otherwise we will need to send a private account to you for payment.
