🧠 National Stroke Week: Recognise the Signs, Save a Life

A stroke can happen suddenly — knowing the signs and acting FAST can make a life-changing difference.

Remember FAST:
🔹 F – Face: Has their face drooped on one side?
🔹 A – Arms: Can they lift both arms? Is one arm weak?
🔹 S – Speech: Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
🔹 T – Time: If you notice any of these signs, call 000 immediately.

Pharmacists play an important role in stroke prevention and awareness by:
💊 Helping manage medicines for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and heart health
🩺 Supporting medication adherence and safe use
❤️ Identifying risk factors and encouraging healthy lifestyle changes
🤝 Working with patients and healthcare teams to reduce stroke risk

This National Stroke Week, share the FAST message — because every second counts.

Living with pain is a reality for millions — but no one should face it alone. 💙

This National Pain Week 2026, we recognise the importance of listening to people’s experiences, improving access to effective pain care, and supporting research and innovation that help transform the lives of those living with chronic pain.

Pain is more than a symptom — it can affect mobility, sleep, mental wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

💊 Pharmacists play an important role in pain management by providing advice on safe and effective use of medicines, checking for side effects and interactions, supporting self-management strategies, and working alongside GPs and other healthcare professionals to help people achieve better health outcomes.

This National Pain Week, let’s raise awareness, encourage conversations, and support people living with pain. 💚

☀️ Feeling tired, weak, or experiencing frequent aches? It could be a sign of Vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is essential for strong bones, healthy muscles, and a well-functioning immune system. Low levels can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, bone pain, and increase the risk of fractures over time.

The good news? Safe sunlight exposure, a balanced diet rich in Vitamin D, and supplements (when recommended by your healthcare professional) can help restore healthy levels.

If you’re experiencing symptoms or think you may be deficient, speak with your doctor or pharmacist about getting your Vitamin D levels checked.

💛 Your health starts with prevention.

Don't let shingles catch you off guard.

Shingles is more than just a rash—it can cause severe, burning nerve pain that may last for months or even years. It can also lead to complications such as long-term nerve pain (postherpetic neuralgia), vision problems if it affects the eyes, skin infections, and in rare cases, more serious health issues.

The good news? Vaccination is the best way to help protect yourself against shingles and its complications. The shingles vaccine is given as 2 doses, with the second dose recommended 2–6 months after the first for most people to achieve the best protection. Some people with immunocompromising conditions may need a shorter interval as advised by their healthcare provider.

You may be eligible for a FREE shingles vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) if you are:
• Aged 65 years and over.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over.
• Aged 18 years and over with certain medical conditions or treatments that cause moderate to severe immunocompromise (eligibility criteria apply).

Not sure if you're eligible or due for your second dose? Our friendly team is here to help. Come in and have a chat with us—we're happy to answer your questions, check your eligibility, and help you stay protected.

Protect yourself today because prevention is better than the pain of shingles.
