The difference between an EpiPen working and not working is 3 seconds.

Most people assume the mistake is clothing. It's not - an EpiPen works through light fabric, no need to undress anyone in an emergency. The mistake that actually costs the dose is pulling it away before the full 3 second hold.

Knowing that fact is one thing, but actually doing it with someone in front of you, with adrenaline running and seconds counting is another! That gap is exactly what practical training closes. When you've held the device, felt the click, and counted the 3 seconds yourself, you're not guessing in the moment.

That's the difference hands on practice makes, and it's why EpiPen use is a practical, assessed component of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid - not just something you read about.

Did you know the base of the fire matters more than the flames?

Most people's instinct is to spray straight at what they can see, but that's not where the fire's actually burning. In our CPPFES2005 Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment course, we get students practising the real P.A.S.S. technique on our Bullex digital live fire system, so the first time they use it for real isn't the first time they've used it at all. Based in Osborne Park, Perth, running weekly.

Safety training expiry dates almost never line up - and that's exactly how teams end up non compliant without realising it.

Here's the cycle, course by course, so you've got it in one place:

CPR (HLTAID009) needs renewing every 12 months.
Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) runs for three years, but the CPR component inside it still requires that annual top up.
Fire Warden (PUAFER005) is a two year retrain, with skills practice recommended at six months.
Working at Heights (RIIWHS204E), Confined Spaces (RIIWHS202E) and Gas Testing (MSMWHS217) is recommended every 2 years.

RTS Training Group delivers all of these in Perth and across WA, accredited through Allens Training RTO 90909.

When the nearest ambulance is two hours away, the training your team has matters more!

Standard Provide First Aid is built for environments where paramedics arrive in minutes - it teaches you to stabilise and hand off. But on a remote mine site, a regional construction project, or a cattle station, there's no one coming to take over quickly.

Remote first aid training prepares your team for that reality - prolonged casualty care, improvised equipment, environmental emergencies, and making decisions when they're the only responder.

The distance between your workplace and the nearest hospital should determine the level of training your team has. If your people work remotely, give them skills that match the reality.

This one was a big deal for us!

A Perth school came to us needing close to 200 staff trained in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and they only had one afternoon to do it.

So we got to work and created a plan.

Staff completed their theory online during the term, and when PD day rolled around, we had 10 trainers ready to go. By 3:30 that afternoon, every person had been assessed and certificates were landing in inboxes within 24 hours.
