Meet RCare 🦿 Our Ankle Robot
Following a stroke, it can be difficult to actively move through a full range of motion. Recovery relies on consistent, targeted practice, guiding the ankle through dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, eversion, and inversion; to rebuild strength and harness neuroplasticity.
That’s why our team is proud to collaborate with the University of Canberra on a special research study right here inside our clinic: A Novel Robot for Ankle Neurorehabilitation of Patients with Post-Stroke Disabilities
Doing research directly inside our clinic is a unique privilege. It bridges the gap between our insight and real-world application, allowing us to build and test solutions hand-in-hand with the people who need them most.
We are exploring the use of this new robot to assess and train ankle movement following a stroke. Participation involves two clinic sessions (roughly one hour each), which include:
1️⃣ An initial assessment of ankle movement using the robotic device.
2️⃣ Training sessions focused on improving ankle movements with the device.
Keen to participate?
You may be eligible to take part if you:
👉🏼Are aged 18 to 80.
👉🏼Have experienced a stroke.
👉🏼Have difficulty with ankle movement or strength.
👉🏼Are able to attend sessions at our clinic located at 33 Pacific Highway, Ourimbah, NSW.

This project brings together a dedicated multidisciplinary crew, including our very own Keiran Lawson, Shahid Hussein, Tanishka, and Paulette Van Vliet, alongside our wider clinical network and the University of Canberra.
