Unresolved conflict does not disappear. It changes shape.

It shows up as slower replies, skipped meetings, work handed off instead of worked through. Nobody names it, so nobody manages it.

Treating conflict as a psychosocial risk, not just an interpersonal issue, is what lets a team actually address it before it costs something bigger.

Burnout does not always look like exhaustion.

For some neurodivergent employees, it looks like withdrawal, sensory overwhelm, or sudden disengagement from work they used to be good at. The standard checklist misses it because it was never built with them in mind.

A trauma-informed lens starts by asking what is actually happening for this person, not assuming it looks the same for everyone.

The people who kept their jobs after a layoff round are carrying something too.

They watched colleagues leave. They picked up the extra work. And most of them are quietly waiting to see if they are next.

Managers absorb this first, long before HR hears about it. Recognizing that weight is not extra work. It is the work.

If this is what your team is carrying right now, learn more about Vicarious Trauma Training on our website. https://www.thewmhi.com/vicarious-trauma-training/

**Your brain can create stress... even when there's no real problem.**

Read that again.

Sometimes the biggest source of stress isn't what's happening.
It's the story your mind creates about what's happening.

The real skill isn't stopping your brain from looking for problems.

It's noticing when it's doing it.

🎥 Watch this before your next overthinking spiral.

Genuine recognition is specific. It names what someone actually did, not just that they showed up.

Performative recognition sounds like a slide at the end of a meeting. Real recognition sounds like a manager stopping someone to say exactly what they noticed and why it mattered.

The difference is not effort. It is attention.

A team argument about the news is not the same as a team falling apart. But managers keep treating it that way, staying silent because they are scared of getting it wrong.

The job was never to referee opinions. It was to protect how people work together when they disagree about everything else.

Right now that skill matters more than it has in years. Teams are more divided outside the office, and managers are the ones absorbing that tension inside it.

One number shows where this is heading.

Mental health conditions now make up 12 percent of all serious workers compensation claims across Australia. That is up more than 14 percent from the year before, according to Safe Work Australia.

Numbers like that do not move because people suddenly became more fragile. They move because workloads, roles, and support have not kept pace with what the job actually demands.

Something quietly shifted in how we think about scheduling.

When a system decides who works the double shift, who gets the toughest deadline, or who covers the fifth call in a row, that decision shapes someone's wellbeing just as much as if a person made the call directly. Regulators are starting to notice that too.

Workload has always been one of the things a business is expected to manage well. It does not stop counting just because a system helped make the call. Someone still needs to notice it is happening and know what to actually do about it.

See what that looks like in practice: https://www.thewmhi.com/managing-psychosocial-safety-training/

There is no state left in Australia where this is optional anymore.

Every state and territory now has rules that require employers to manage the things that wear people down at work. Heavy workloads. Unclear roles. Poor support. Bullying. Not as a nice to have. As a legal duty.

It took years to get every state on the same page. Now that they have, the expectation is the same everywhere, no matter where your team is based.
