Persistence pays off….
Ken has been living with Parkinson’s disease for under 10 years, but you wouldn’t guess it from the way he approaches life. He continues to walk independently most of the time, enjoys travel and cruises, and stays socially active with his partner. More than anything, he brings a positive energy to every session—there’s always a laugh, and you can’t help but leave in a better mood.
When asked about his secret to staying well, Ken simply said, “I have a good teacher.” But what really stands out is his attitude. He consistently follows his exercise program, embraced daily walking when it was introduced, and is always willing to try new or challenging exercises—no matter how difficult they seem.
Even on tougher days, or when managing hip pain, Ken never turns away from physiotherapy. In fact, he looks forward to it.
Ken’s story highlights something we see time and time again: long-term success isn’t about one session—it’s about consistency, openness, and a willingness to keep showing up. His commitment to movement and his positive mindset are what truly keep him thriving.
Brad’s Journey
Three years ago, life looked very different for Brad. He was a man of action, spending his days in a physically demanding job and his free time riding his motorcycle or playing guitar. Following a spinal cord injury, those physical outlets were suddenly out of reach, forcing a total reinvention of his life.
The road to recovery has not been about returning to the past, but about finding strength in the present. Brad has traded the roar of an engine for the quiet focus of collecting coins and stamps, and the tactile joy of the guitar for the peace of feeding birds. Throughout this transition, Brad has remained an incredibly warm and empathetic person, greeting every challenge with a kind heart.
His commitment to progress is unwavering. He heads to the swimming pool three times a week, performing the hard work himself while a carer supervises. Most impressively, Brad never misses a weekly session. Even on the days he feels unwell and considers cancelling, he chooses to show up and fully embraces every piece of advice he is given.
This grit and trust led to a major milestone: walking to his post box with his walker, standing tall, and opening it independently. It was not just about the mail; it was a testament to three years of hard work. However, this is far from the end of his story. Brad has already set his sights on new goals, and with his level of determination, there is no doubt he will reach them.
