Meet Miranda - she's been a valued surgical nurse at Frances Perry House for over two years and has discovered a true passion for women’s health along the way.

She was especially excited to see Frances Perry House expand into IVF and fertility care through Stellar Fertility, an area she feels deeply passionate about supporting.

Outside of nursing, Miranda proudly describes herself as a coffee snob, with a double-shot latte being her go to order.

A fun fact about Miranda; much of her spine is metal thanks to scoliosis surgery, making her just a little bit bionic!

Her tip for patients preparing for surgery is to stay well hydrated the day before your procedure and to bring something to hospital that brings you comfort, whether that’s your favourite water bottle, photos of loved ones, or your own pillow.

Introducing Christine - one of our wonderful surgical nurses here at Frances Perry House.

Christine made the brave move to Australia from the Philippines in 2018 on her own, with a dream of studying nursing and building a new life.

While she still frequently travels home to spend time with her family, Christine has become a much-loved part of the Frances Perry House family, working across both our operating theatres and recovery suites.

An avid reader, Christine admits she has not had as much time to read for pleasure while completing her master’s degree, but she's looking forward to getting back into her books soon.

Christine has a true heart of gold and is known for her kind and caring nature with patients. She is often one of the friendly faces you will see as you wake up from your anaesthetic, helping you feel safe and supported during your recovery.

Alesha is a dual nurse and midwife here at Frances Perry House, where she works across both antenatal and birthing suite as well as our surgical ward.

Her passion really lies in developing that strong bond with parents and ensuring our long stay antenatal patients are supported both emotionally and clinically.

Making sure our parents feel extra special throughout their journey is something she prides herself on.

In her spare time, Alesha enjoys pushing her body to the limit and has completed triathlons and a half Ironman!

Have you met Alesha here at Frances Perry?

Meet Simone 👋 she’s been a nurse for 27 years and a midwife for over 15 years!

She came to Frances Perry House with a wealth of knowledge – her experience has included over 10 years in a public emergency department, as well as over eight years of childbirth education, providing essential advice to parents-to-be.

Simone has also spent some of her personal time providing humanitarian aid in Tanzania as a volunteer.

Fun fact: Simone has a keen eye for detail and led the redesign of our birthing suites! We are very lucky to have her on our team here at Frances Perry.

Emily is one of our wonderful midwives here at Frances Perry House. She’s been practising for over nine years and came to us all the way from Dublin!

Fun fact: Emily has starred on an Irish TV show called The Rotunda, which goes behind the scenes of the world’s longest running maternity hospital.

“I try to bring a calm, relaxed atmosphere to the birth suite,” she says, “and I’m a big believer that having a laugh along the way can really help during labour. My advice to parents is not to put too much pressure on yourselves and to enjoy the experience as much as possible.”

As part of our approach to providing excellent maternity care, we hosted an education evening for our doctors and team to learn more about supporting pregnant women with neurodiversity and mental health challenges.

There were some excellent discussions that came from the insights of all six speakers.

Thank you to Dr Edna Lekgabe, Dr Hannah Dobson and Dr Cindy Fan from WARM Health Collective, and Jess Hedley, Ciara Scanlon and Dusk Liney from Women's Recovery Network at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road.

Our special care nurses are one of a kind, offering essential care and comfort to families with babies who need a little extra help getting their best start in life.

This , we’re recognising everything they do to support premature and sick newborns.

Some of our wonderful team is pictured here with baby Rex, one of our little heroes who was eager to come into the world at 32 weeks.

He enjoys long cuddles with his mum and dad, milk, sleeping, and making the nurses laugh with his facial expressions.

After spending 28 days in our Special Care Nursery, Rex headed home with mum and dad. His parents are so proud of him and so are we!

He’s pictured here with special care nurses Shannon, Monique, Grace and Amy, plus nurse unit manager Sarah.

The care they provide, the relationships they form, and the trust they build with patients and their families cannot be understated.

Pictured here are birth suite midwives Alesha, Gabrielle, Simone, Jian and nurse unit manager Annie.
