CWHC - Cumberland Women's Health Centre A non-profit community based organisation providing women's health and DV response services These areas still remain the focus of the Centre today

Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a non-profit community based organisation which was established 26 years ago to provide women’s health services and domestic violence specialist response services to women in the Parramatta, Holroyd, Auburn and Hills area. When the Centre first started in the early 90’s focus was placed upon providing services surrounding anti-violence towards women (part

icularly domestic violence), support for new and emerging groups within the community and activities for the elderly. The Centre recognised these areas as ones where there were gaps in service provision, especially with the provision of crisis assistance in the 4 Cumberland regions.

Tomorrow is the first day of Jean Hailes for Women's Health Women's Health Week! πŸ’œπŸ’›

This year, the theme is "do it anyway", encouraging women to take small steps towards improving their health, in spite of obstacles. Each day, you can expect practical tips and resources following the daily themes of: to fuel, to move, to rest, to breathe and to connect.

Our financial officer, Betty, had the chance to attend the Sisters of Mercy's morning tea this Wednesday! πŸ’œπŸ’›

The Sisters of Mercy were giving out their grants on behalf of the St Michael's fund, a fund that has allowed us to run our art-focused groups, for which we are grateful! Alongside other attending services, Betty enjoyed a lovely morning tea and the chance to chat with fellow service providers.

You are all of these and more! πŸ’œπŸ’›

Affirmations like these can boost your well-being whether you make them a consistent part of your routine or just perform them when in need of a little pick-me-up. They can also help replace negative self-talk and self-perception over time.

Today is 'Wear it Purple' Day, an annual Australian awareness day celebrating young, LGBTQIA+ people. This year's theme is "Colours of Courage" πŸ’œπŸ’›

Being out and proud is itself an act of courage, especially when it can feel like you're alone. So today, we take the time to show young LGBTQIA+ people that they are not alone. We encourage people, today and everyday, to speak up against homophobia and transphobia.

Together, we can push back against hate and make change, echoing the courage of the changemakers before us, and modelling it for young people today.

Last week, our Women's Health Group had the chance to make some gorgeous prints and quickly fell in love with the process! πŸ’œπŸ’›

Not only did they get a lovely piece of art to take home, but they also had the opportunity to engage with fellow community members. Through engagement with activities, the Women's Health Group promotes social integration to battle isolation and create safe spaces in which women can support one another and access therapeutic treatments.
