A health scare has a way of stripping everything back and revealing exactly what matters and what doesn’t.

Over the summer, I was working on building an online wellness program for a client when I started noticing something wasn’t right.

My vision was becoming blurry. I was getting persistent headaches and pressure behind my right eye.

At first, I assumed it was just time for a stronger prescription in my reading glasses. But after visiting the optometrist, I was referred on to a specialist… and then another… and then another.

Eventually, I was diagnosed with idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, described to me as similar to an aneurysm behind my right eye. It was growing quickly, and the expectation was that without treatment, I would likely completely lose vision in that eye.

It was a frightening moment. I remember thinking: How am I going to work? How am I going to support my kids? What does this mean for everything I’ve built?

I was offered treatment in the form of monthly eye injections, likely ongoing long-term, to stabilise the condition and reduce the risk of vision loss.

Six months into treatment, things are thankfully improving. The headaches and pressure have eased, my vision is stabilising, and the fear of “losing my sight” has lifted.

I’m deeply grateful for modern medicine, for the specialists who treat the condition, and for my kids who have supported me, driving to appointments. Most of all, I’m grateful for my sight and what it allows me to do every day, like enjoy the beautiful view across the lake early in the morning.

This experience has been a reminder I didn’t expect, but clearly needed: Slow down. Honour your health. Prioritise what actually matters.

Because work, goals, and plans all sit on the foundation of our health, and without it, everything else shifts.

What this means for Wellness Worx is a simple but important adjustment. The business will continue, but in a reduced capacity for the remainder of the year. I will be delivering wellness workshops to organisations and community groups and delivering wellness workshop education for coaches and consultants.

Beyond that, I’m giving myself space to heal properly, focus on my health, and be present with my family. I’m aiming to return in a fuller capacity in 2027.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in, supported me, and given me the space to step back and recover. It’s been felt and appreciated more than I can say.

If there’s one thing I’d take from this experience and pass on, it’s this: don’t wait for a health scare to make your wellbeing a priority. Slow down earlier. Listen sooner. And take action.

✨ Teamwork, connection, and a whole lot of fun! ✨

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of facilitating The Wellness Game for Whelan’s Group during their team bonding morning. Staff from multiple departments came together to build teamwork, promote psychosocial safety, and support wellbeing all in a fun, interactive way.

Kaitlyn Mathers, Business Services Manager, captured the day perfectly:
"I just wanted to say a big Whelans thank you to you and Caz for helping facilitate our team bonding morning on Friday. It was so lovely to see our vision of bringing the different departments together come to life. I really enjoyed watching everyone get involved and have such a great time. The debrief after the activities was fantastic; it was great to hear from the groups and to see that everyone took something meaningful away from the day."

💡 At Wellness Worx, we love designing experiences that strengthen team culture, foster psychosocial safety, and support mental and emotional well-being, helping teams thrive together.

🌱 Building Healthier, Stronger Communities Together 🌱

I’m excited to share the work currently underway with East Gippsland Shire Council to develop the East Gippsland Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership.

This partnership brings together local organisations, community leaders, and services with a shared vision:
✔ To strengthen mental health and wellbeing across East Gippsland
✔ To create a coordinated, collaborative, and sustainable approach
✔ To support the relief, recovery, and resilience of our communities now and into the future

It was a privilege to recently present at the Relief and Recovery Subcommittee meeting, where we began creating strategic links and networks that will guide this important work forward.

This project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government under the Commonwealth–State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Together, through collaboration and shared purpose, we have the opportunity to build a stronger foundation for wellbeing across our region.

✨ What a great start in Eagle Point, East Gippsland!
We had an amazing turnout for the Live Younger Longer Program with over 70 registrations, and I love that so many in our community aged 65+ are saying “yes” to living life younger. 💪💚
This program is all about helping people stay active, connected, and independent while boosting wellbeing across mind, body, and lifestyle. Over the next few weeks, participants will learn from experts, get moving with fun activities, enjoy simple nutrition tips, and most importantly, share the journey together.
It’s such a joy to see our community embracing health, vitality, and connection in this way. Big thanks to everyone who registered and came along. I can’t wait to see how the group grows and flourishes!
