Arthritis isn't just a bit of stiffness. It can mean real, daily challenges:

Aching joints and morning stiffness, reduced mobility and slower movement, or less independence, and a knock to quality of life.

A few things worth knowing:
1️⃣ Arthritis is Australia's leading cause of chronic pain.
2️⃣ It affects around 1 in 6 Australians.
3️⃣ There are over 100 different types of arthritis.

If this is part of your world, please know you're not alone.

It's Australian National Bird Week and we're feeling grateful for the little feathered friends who brighten our days. 🐦

Nature has a beautiful way of lifting the spirits.

Time outside can do so much good:
🌿 A moment of calm and fresh air
🎶 The soothing sound of birds chirping
🌞 A little sunshine to warm the day

And moments like these can ease loneliness too. Watching a cheeky bird gives us something to smile about, and something to share with the people we love. 🌼

So this week, why not pop outside together and listen for a while?

What's your favourite Australian bird?

This week, we're celebrating some very special people!

It's National Carers Week, and we want to thank every carer who looks after an older person or person living with a disability with such love and dedication. 💜

This year’s theme, “Care for a carer: Making carers visible,” shines a light on the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers and encourages all Australians to recognise, support and care for the carers in their families, workplaces and communities.

We are so proud of all our Senior Helpers Care Partners, and want to give a shout out to them as well as to the family and friends who are caregivers in their personal lives.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we're thinking of the women touched by it, along with the families who love them.

Early detection is so important. 🌼

A few reminders:
🩺 Book that mammogram, even if it feels a little daunting
💗 Keep up with regular check-ups
🤍 Speak up about any changes, big or small

And to anyone walking this road right now, please know you're not alone. There's so much love and support around you, on the brave days and the difficult ones.

Our eyes help us stay connected to the world we love. 👀💛

Today is World Sight Day, and we're thinking about the many older adults living with changes to their vision.

Everyday tasks can feel harder, getting out and about takes more care, and independence can start to slip away.

Regular eye checks can make a real difference. Many vision problems can be picked up early and managed with the right support.

So this is your gentle nudge to 👁️

We recently observed the International Day of Older Persons. 👵👴

Longer lives are something to celebrate. But they also ask something of all of us: to build a world where older people can live with dignity, good health, and a real sense of belonging.

That means age-inclusive communities. It means care that centres the whole person. It means making sure that no matter how many years someone has lived, they are still seen, still supported, and still valued.

At Senior Helpers, that's exactly what we believe in. Every person we support deserves to age well, with compassion, connection, and the right care in place.

A longer life should be a full one. 💜

This week is all about looking after our minds.

It's Mental Health Week, and we want to talk about something close to our hearts: loneliness. It's one of the biggest challenges older adults face, and it can affect wellbeing in big ways.

Loneliness can feel heavy, but connection is always within reach. One kind moment can brighten a whole day.

We offer Companion Care to bring a little brightness to the days of older adults and those living with a disability. Find out more here: www.seniorhelpers.com.au/how-we-help/companion-care/
