π Words have power.
The way we speak can make people feel welcomed, respected and understood.
Inclusive language isn't about being "perfect", it's about listening, learning and respecting each person's preferences.
Some people prefer person-first language (e.g. person with a disability), while others prefer identity-first language (e.g. autistic person or Deaf person). Neither is universally right or wrong. The most respectful approach is to ask, listen and honour the individual's preference.
At CALM by CARM, we're committed to creating a community where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.
π Because inclusion starts with conversation.
What are your thoughts on inclusive language? We'd love to hear your perspective in the comments.
