Your heart is a muscle, and regular movement is its best training plan. 💙

In the spirit of World Heart Day, here's what exercise actually does inside your body: your heart pumps more blood with every beat, blood pressure can drop, your arteries stay more flexible, and your cholesterol profile improves.

The goal? Around 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, like brisk walking, cycling or swimming, plus strength work on 2 days. Every bit counts.

Not sure where to start? Our physios can help you build a program that suits you. Link in bio to book. And check with your GP or physio before starting something new, especially if you have a heart condition or symptoms.

❤️ WORLD HEART DAY | 29 SEPTEMBER❤️

This World Heart Day, we’re celebrating the importance of looking after your heart — not just today, but for life.

At SportsMed Subiaco, exercise is an important part of helping you move well, build strength, improve fitness and support your overall health.

To celebrate, we’re highlighting 3 ways you can get moving with us:

❤️ Cardiac Rehabilitation
A safe, structured program for those recovering from a cardiac event or cardiovascular surgery.

💪 Strength & Conditioning Classes
Physiotherapist-supervised group sessions with an individualised program designed around your goals.

🧘 Clinical Pilates
Physiotherapist-led exercise to improve movement, strength, function and help manage pain.

Whether you're returning to exercise, building your strength or simply looking after your long-term health, the right exercise program can make a difference.

❤️ Move well. Live well. Look after your heart.

**RESTORE TO PERFORM LAB | SPORTS MED SUBIACO**

What gets measured, gets managed.

At SportsMed Subiaco, our **Restore to Perform Lab** brings objective athlete testing into the rehabilitation and performance process.

Our VALD testing suite includes **ForceDecks, ForceFrame and handheld dynamometry**, allowing our clinicians to objectively assess strength, force production, asymmetries, power, movement and physical capacity.

Why does accurate testing matter?

🏋️ **Rehabilitation** – establish objective baselines and quantify progress throughout recovery
📊 **Monitoring** – identify meaningful changes in strength and performance over time
🎯 **Goal setting** – turn rehabilitation goals into measurable targets
⚖️ **Asymmetry & capacity** – identify deficits that may otherwise be difficult to detect clinically
🏃 **Return to performance** – assess whether an athlete is ready to progress from simply being *pain-free* to being physically prepared for the demands of their sport
💪 **Performance** – establish individual profiles and identify areas for development

Importantly, testing isn't about chasing a number. It's about combining **objective data with clinical reasoning, the athlete's goals and the demands of their sport** to make better-informed decisions.

This is the level of objective assessment we believe athletes deserve — from rehabilitation through to high performance.

**Restore. Test. Progress. Perform.**

⚽ Shaun continues to build an impressive career in elite football.

Having previously worked with the Northern Ireland UEFA Academy and Charlton Athletic Women’s Academy, Shaun has now added Perth Glory to his growing experience in the game.

In his role with Perth Glory, Shaun provides physiotherapy services to the Senior Women’s Academy at Perth Glory HQ, while also leading injury surveillance and monitoring across the program.

This work goes beyond treating injuries — using player data and injury trends to help guide decision-making, identify areas of risk and develop strategies to keep players healthy, available and performing at their best. 📊⚽

We’re loving seeing Shaun continue to combine high-performance physiotherapy with a data-driven approach to injury prevention and player care.

The team gained valuable clinical skills and levelled up on differential diagnosis around the wrist.

Thank you for your time Jay!
