Stay home if you feel unwell, have a fever, cough or experience difficulty breathing to protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections to others. If you can’t leave home during the coronavirus outbreak you can still consult a qualified Australian-registered general practitioner, by using the National Telemedicine Doctors online platform. What is Telemedicine? Telemedicine simply means you, the patient, accessing clinical services from a qualified doctor using electronic communications and software, without actually visiting the doctor yourself in person. Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients without a face-to face meeting. Telemedicine technology is now frequently used for general medical consultations, follow-up visits, management of chronic conditions, medication management, specialist consultations and a host of other clinical services that can be provided remotely via secure video and audio. Where it was once only available in limited circumstances from a few practitioners, telemedicine has now evolved and become a widely-accepted mainstream way for you to access medical and health care. Using our telemedicine platform, you can now consult an Australian Medical Board-certified doctor/GP in the comfort of our own home or office. Of course a face-to-face consultation with your regular GP is the ideal consultation, however a consultation with National Telemedicine Doctors is an effective and convenient alterative, when a face-to-face consultation is not possible. During your consultation your National Telemedicine Doctor will advise you if an in-person visit to a medical practitioner is required. Benefits
An online consultation with National Telemedicine Doctors as an alternative to a face-to-face visit with a doctor has many benefits, including:
• No travel expenses, or lost time due to travel
• Less time away from work to attend a consultation
• Less interference with child or other carer responsibilities
• Privacy
• No exposure to other patients who may have contagious illnesses
• Prevention of the possible spread of coronavirus that may endanger people who are vulnerable, aged, or have pre-existing health conditions
• Less waiting time to get a consultation if there is a long waiting time to see your usual doctor face-to-face. Please remember that consultations provided by National Telemedicine Doctors are not suitable in the case of medical emergencies requiring urgent treatment. In the case of emergencies, please contact your local emergency services immediately. How it works: just follow these 3 easy steps -

For Phone/Video consultation

Step-1
Click on the link “BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE” at the top of any page on our website and follow the prompts. Step-2
If you require a prescription, enter details of your preferred pharmacy for receipt of your prescription (if one is issued). If you do not have a preferred pharmacy, the doctor will email your prescription to an accredited pharmacy near you and you will be notified. Step-3
Choose a practitioner and an appointment time that suits you. If it is a telehealth phone consultation, your doctor will call you at the appointment time on the telephone number that is registered with us as your contact phone number. Your doctor will call you as close to that time as possible, depending on the doctor’s availability. If it is a video consultation, we will provide you with instructions on how to join the video call. Should you miss the phone/video call for any reason, you will need to call us back immediately to proceed with the consultation or to arrange another consultation
