As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, it was wonderful to see Tourism Australia showcase the inspiring work of Juan Walker and Walkabout Cultural Adventures during ATEC's Tourism Tutorial: 65,000 Years of Culture.
Juan's story is a powerful example of the strength of First Nations-led tourism and the importance of sharing culture through authentic experiences, genuine connection and deep respect for Country. His long-standing commitment to sharing Kuku Yalanji culture continues to inspire visitors from around the world while strengthening appreciation for one of the world's oldest living cultures.
The tutorial highlighted the significance of Australia's 65,000-year-old living culture, the growing demand for authentic First Nations tourism experiences, and the importance of ensuring Aboriginal voices remain at the heart of cultural tourism.
Thank you to ATEC, Tourism Australia and the panel for such an insightful and important conversation.
