Last night the LELHC met up for our quarterly meeting. It was great to have Bridget from Country SA PHN in attendance, as well as Scott from our committee online (sorry you missed the photo, Scott). We had Susan from Rural Health Innovation Fund talk about the fund, its successes, and she encouraged applications to keep coming from our region each round.
We acknowledge Sharon who is also on our committee but was not able to join us last night.

These men are not just doctors. They are sons, husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles, nephews, mates, and valued members of our community.

Like everyone else, they experience the pressures, challenges, and ups and downs that life can bring. Mental health doesn't discriminate based on age, profession, or background—it affects us all.

This month is a reminder that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health. Checking in on ourselves and those around us can make a real difference.

To all the men in our community: your health matters, your wellbeing matters, and you don't have to carry life's challenges alone.

A local example of how the wonderful Rural Health Innovation Fund can make a lasting impact on individuals, families and communities!

The West Coast Youth & Community Support Grief and Loss Support Group, in Cummins recently came to a close. This initiative brought together community members to share and support one another through their individual journeys, navigating grief.

Together, participants created a space where:
- stories could be shared
- experiences could be validated
- no one felt alone in their grief

Through guided support and shared understanding, this group has shown the importance of connection during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Supported by the Rural Health Innovation Fund, initiatives like this demonstrate the power of community-led care.

The LELHC is excited to bring to your attention that applications for the 2026/27 Health Promotion Grants are now open.

These grants are offered annually, with funding provided by Country SA PHN.

Grant applications for up to $10,000 will be considered.

* If your organisation operates within the footprint of the LELHC.
* You have an idea that promotes health within your community.
* You need financial support to make this a reality.
* The activity will be completed prior to June 30th 2027.
* Co funding with other partner organisations will also be considered.

Applications close 5.00 pm Tuesday June 30th 2026

Upcoming training being delivered by MATES in Construction SA and funded by Country SA PHN in Port Lincoln

Put aside just 4 hours to do this FREE training! It’s good! We’ve done it and recommend you do it too!

Prevention is the way to go. We find too often that people wish they had done a training like this after someone they love has struggled with their mental health. This is an opportunity to get on the front foot by taking a few hours out of your day.

Youth Opportunities & Jenny Hurley AM warmly invite everyone to join them for their Empowering Eyre Dinner, proudly presented in partnership with the Hurley Hotel Group.

PORT LINCOLN ~ New group starting ❤️

Our grief & loss support groups have been such a wonderful addition to our offerings in our region. Having the opportunity to access this support locally has the potential to change lives for the better; and we have witnessed this over the last few months. Anne is an amazing facilitator and we are so grateful we have her knowledge, passion and experience right her to learn and grow from.

The current group in Cummins is closed. Details for Tumby Bay will be released soon. The next Port Lincoln group will start in April (all dates listed in the image). We have a few names down for that one. If you’re keen to join- get in touch! [email protected]

We encourage you to be brave and come along. We will never force anyone into sharing anything if they don’t wish to. Our participants have found that it has been nice to be among other people who ‘get it’ and share common experiences.

The biggest thank you to the Rural Health Innovation Fund and Country SA PHN who have made these groups possible with their funding. It has been a long term vision and we are just so happy it’s a reality.
