And just like that, we’ve reached the end of Women’s Health Week at Lincoln Medical Centre! 🌸

This week we’ve talked about the importance of looking after ourselves — from keeping up with our health checks and listening to our bodies, to nourishing ourselves, moving our bodies, looking after our mental health and remembering that we deserve care too.

To finish off the week, we’re handing it over to our wonderful Women’s Health Nurse, Jane, who shares some important advice and a little reminder for all the women out there. 💕

A huge thank you to everyone who has followed along with us this week, stopped to read our displays in the waiting room, and taken a moment to think about their own health.

Remember — you don’t have to wait until something is wrong to look after your health.
Make yourself a priority, book that appointment, ask the question and don’t ignore what your body is telling you. 💗

From all of us at Lincoln Medical Centre — happy Women’s Health Week! 🌷

🌸 FRIDAY
Today, do something just for YOU 🌸

Not because you've finished everything.
Because let's be honest…
When does that ever happen? 😂

There will always be washing.
There will always be dishes.
There will always be someone asking “Mum, where is my…?”
So stop waiting for the perfect time.

Have the coffee while it's hot. ☕
Get your nails done. 💅
Go for a walk.
Have lunch with the girls.
Buy the top you've been looking at.
Have a bath. 🛁
Read your book.
Put your phone down.
Watch your favourite show.
Or sit on the couch and do absolutely NOTHING.

Self-care doesn't have to be expensive.
And it certainly doesn't have to look perfect.
Sometimes it's simply giving yourself permission to stop.

You've spent the week looking at your health, your food, your movement and your mental wellbeing.

So today, remember one more thing:
Looking after yourself isn't selfish.
You deserve the same care, love and attention that you give to everyone else.

So go on…
Treat yourself. You’re allowed.

🌸 THURSDAY - How are YOU?🌸

We ask everyone else…
“Are you okay?”

But how often do we stop and ask ourselves the same thing?

As women, we're often the organisers, the carers, the workers, the mums, the wives, the friends…

We're remembering everyone's appointments, school notes, birthdays, shopping lists and commitments.
But somewhere in all of that…
we can forget about ourselves.

So today, stop for a minute and ask:

🌼 How am I actually feeling?
🌼 Am I exhausted all the time?
🌼 Have I been feeling overwhelmed?
🌼 Am I enjoying the things I normally enjoy?
🌼 Have I been giving myself any time to breathe?
🌼 Do I need some help?

You don't have to wait until you're completely burnt out.
And asking for help isn't weakness.

You don't have to carry everything on your own.
Talk to someone.
Make an appointment.
Take a break.
Say no when you need to.

And remember…
You are just as important as everyone you spend your days looking after!

We asked some of the ladies in the clinic what is something they do to look after their own health as a woman.

A FEW WORDS FROM DR KAY

Women’s Health Week is an important reminder that women’s health deserves attention at every stage of life.

As a male GP, I recognise that good healthcare starts with listening. Women should feel comfortable discussing their health concerns openly, knowing they will be heard, respected and taken seriously.

Women often spend so much time caring for their families, their workplaces and their communities that their own health can sometimes come second. This week is a good opportunity to encourage every woman to make her own wellbeing a priority — whether that means attending a health check, discussing a concern that has been put off, looking after mental health, or simply taking some time for herself.

Women’s health is much broader than reproductive health. It includes heart health, bone health, cancer prevention, mental wellbeing, healthy ageing, sexual health and the many physical and emotional changes that occur throughout life.

As GPs, our role is to provide a safe, respectful and non-judgmental environment where women can ask questions, make informed choices and receive care that reflects their individual needs.

So during Women’s Health Week, my message is simple: please make time for your health. Don’t ignore symptoms, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and don’t feel that you have to put everyone else before yourself.

Your health matters — not only to you, but to the families and communities that value and depend upon you.

🌸 WEDNESDAY - MOVEMENT 🌸

You don't need to “work out”. You just need to move.

We often think exercise has to mean:
🏋️‍♀️ Getting up at 5am
🏃‍♀️ Running kilometres
💪 Spending an hour at the gym
🥵 Working until you're exhausted

But real life doesn't always look like that.
Especially when you're a busy woman.

Sometimes movement looks like:
🚶‍♀️ Going for a 10-minute walk
🎶 Dancing around the kitchen
🧘‍♀️ Stretching before bed
👟 Walking while the kids are at sport
🌿 Getting outside for some fresh air
🏃‍♀️ Playing with the kids instead of sitting on the sidelines

It all counts.

Movement isn't about punishing your body for what you ate.
It's about giving your body a little love.

And if you've been telling yourself “I don't have time”…

Start with 10 minutes.

You don't need to be perfect.
You don't need to do it every day.
Just move when you can, however you can.
Your future self will thank you.

We have some beautiful walking trails here in Port Lincoln and Mother Nature might even reward you with some stunning views like these captured by some of our staff.

🥑 TUESDAY | HEALTHY EATING 🥑

You’re busy. Your body still needs feeding. ❤️
As women, we’re often so busy looking after everyone else that our own nutrition ends up at the bottom of the list.

Between work, kids, appointments, school lunches and everything else life throws at us, sometimes grabbing whatever is quickest feels like the only option!

But healthy eating doesn’t have to mean complicated recipes, hours in the kitchen or being “perfect”.

✨ Add some protein to keep you fuller for longer

🥦 Add some colour with fruit and vegetables

🥑 Include healthy fats like avocado, nuts and seeds

💧 Keep your water bottle close

🍫 And remember — there’s absolutely room for treats and takeaway too!

It’s about balance, not perfection.

So we want to hear from YOU! 👇
What’s your favourite nutritious meal when you’re short on time?
Maybe it’s a quick breakfast, an easy family dinner, a go-to lunch or something you can throw together in 5 minutes!

Drop your favourites in the comments — let’s share some realistic ideas and help each other out!

🌸 MONDAY - When was the last time you made an appointment for YOU?🌸

Be honest… how many health appointments have you been meaning to make? 👀

The appointment you keep saying you’ll book…
The screening you know you’re due for…
The blood test you’ve been putting off…
The little symptom you’ve noticed but keep telling yourself “it’s probably nothing.”

We get it. You’re busy.

There are kids to get to school, work to do, lunches to make, appointments to organise and approximately 47 other people who need something from you. 😂

But here’s your reminder:
You are allowed to put yourself on the list. ❤️
Don’t ignore symptoms that are new, persistent or worrying you.

Things like:
🩷 Unexplained or ongoing tiredness
🩷 Changes in your periods
🩷 Unusual bleeding or pain
🩷 Changes in your breasts
🩷 Changes in your weight that you can’t explain
🩷 Ongoing headaches, dizziness or digestive problems
🩷 Changes in your mood or sleep
🩷 Anything that just doesn’t feel right

And don’t forget those routine health checks and screenings that can be easy to push to the bottom of the list.

You don’t have to wait until you’re really unwell before you look after yourself.

Come and see Dr Jessie Zhang and Dr Jaye Cousins, two of our dedicated female practitioners here at Lincoln Medical Centre!

🌸 WOMEN’S HEALTH WEEK | LINCOLN MEDICAL CENTRE 🌸
This week, we’re putting YOU back on the list.

As women, we’re often busy looking after everyone else — our kids, partners, families, work, homes and all the little things in between.

We make the appointments.
We remember the birthdays.
We organise the schedules.
We make sure everyone else is okay.
But how often do we stop and ask ourselves… “Am I okay?”

Women’s Health Week is a reminder that your health matters too. 🌷

Over the next five days, we’ll be talking about some of the simple but important ways we can look after ourselves — from the health appointments we sometimes put off, to nourishing our bodies, moving more, checking in with our mental health and remembering that it’s okay to do something just for YOU.

And if you're visiting us at Lincoln Medical Centre this week, take a look around our waiting rooms. We’ve put together displays filled with women’s health information, helpful resources and information about local services available in our community.

Sometimes just seeing the right information at the right time can be the little reminder we need to make that appointment, ask that question or reach out for some support.
Because looking after yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s necessary.

So this week, make yourself a priority.

🌸 Book the appointment.
🌸 Listen to your body.
🌸 Eat the food that fuels you.
🌸 Move in a way that feels good.
🌸 Check in with yourself.
🌸 And give yourself permission to stop, breathe and enjoy something just because you deserve it.

Follow along with us this Women’s Health Week — because you deserve to be looked after too. 💗

These men are not just doctors. They are sons, husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles, nephews, mates, and valued members of our community.

Like everyone else, they experience the pressures, challenges, and ups and downs that life can bring. Mental health doesn't discriminate based on age, profession, or background—it affects us all.

This month is a reminder that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health. Checking in on ourselves and those around us can make a real difference.

To all the men in our community: your health matters, your wellbeing matters, and you don't have to carry life's challenges alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling please know we are always here.
