🌟 VERY SPECIAL VISITORS to THE DAY CENTRE! 🌟

On Wednesday 9th September, our Matthew Flinders Bus — which has been out of action for a little while — was back on the road and brought some very excited and very welcome residents over to join us for a much-anticipated BINGO Tournament! 🎉

And oh my goodness… this was sooo much fun! 🥰

There were smiles, plenty of laughs, a little bit of friendly competition and lots of catching up as old and new friends came together for a wonderful morning. ❤️

To top off our lovely day, we enjoyed a tasty luncheon together, followed by some beautiful bakery treats that were enjoyed by everyone. ☕🍰

It was just so lovely having our friends from Matthew Flinders Home join us, and we are already looking forward to doing it all again — whether that means another visit to the Day Centre, us visiting them in their newly refurbished Home, or perhaps even a joint outing together! 🚌

The opportunities are endless! 🌟

A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special.

And a very special mention to Barry, who gave us such a lovely and heartfelt speech of thanks. It really meant a lot to us. ❤️

We hope to see you all again very soon! 😊

Until next time… keep those Bingo cards ready! 🎲💙

🚌 OUR BUS IS BACK! 🎉
After a very long 4 months, our prayers have finally been answered, and our bus has returned! 🙌🚌
We were hopeful that our bus would be back this month, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome it home!
We know just how much our bus means to our residents and Day Centre Clients. To celebrate, we’ve put together a new residential program for September packed with outings, activities, and opportunities to get out and about together. 🎉The Day Centre program remains the same!

📅 Take a look at our new residential September program below and see what adventures are coming up!

A huge thank you to everyone for your patience and support while we waited for our bus to return. We’re so happy to have it back and can’t wait to see where it takes us next! 🚌💙

Every so often, we get to celebrate a milestone that stops us in our tracks and this is one of them. Swipe through for Arvid's story ➡️

Arvid Sederstrom turned 100 on 26 June 2026, following his wife Melva, who reached her own century back in 2023. The pair met at A&E Hall & Co, where Melva worked as a qualified cream tester and Arvid measured and canned the cream. They were engaged before Arvid joined the RAAF and went on to marry for 77 years.

Together they built their family home by hand... literally, making every brick themselves, with Melva turning the cement mixer. Arvid worked at Geddes Timber Mill and the pair later built a family shack in Coffin Bay for fishing, swimming and holidays. They raised four children, welcomed seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren AND travelled the world together, from England and Europe to Bali, plus a cruise to celebrate Melva's 90th.

Congratulations, Arvid from your Matthew Flinders family. Thank you for sharing a lifetime of stories with us.

DAY CENTRE VISITOR 💛

Today we welcomed back one of our favourite visitors, Jo Wilkins, who comes in to do Mindful Moments with us.

Jo has been joining us regularly throughout the year and helping us slow down, be present and get in tune with our self-awareness. We love her visits as they give us the opportunity to try something different that we wouldn’t ordinarily do in our own time.

Today we sat together in our circle and started with a short meditation. We then chose an object from Jo’s special basket that appealed to us. We shared what it was about the object that caught our attention and why we chose it.

This sparked some wonderful stories, memories and conversations! 💭💕

The second part of our session was mindful eating! 🍋🍪

We each grabbed a yummy lemon crisp biscuit and took our time eating it mindfully and slowly. We then discussed the experience together and how different it can feel when we really slow down and pay attention to what we are eating.

It was a lovely way to slow down, appreciate what we have and enjoy the beautiful food in front of us. ❤️

We always look forward to our afternoons with Jo and can’t wait for our next Mindful Moments session next week, Thursday 10th September! 🌿✨
