So much of what I’m interested in now is about what it means to actually inhabit a body in the world we live in.
Not to transcend it, not to “rise above” what’s happening, or use practices to become better at putting up with things that need to be felt and questioned.
Which is why the next book we’re reading with the Amnesty Port Macquarie Group feels particularly timely.
Returning Home to Our Bodies explores how we relate to our bodies, how the world shapes that relationship, what we learn to ignore or push through — and the wonder of being alive.
The book is grounding and expansive, a reminder that our bodies are not separate from nature. They are, in fact, part of the miracle of it.
The book group itself is called Bound Together and explores each book slowly, reading only a few chapters each fortnight, so there’s time to digest, reflect and talk about what we’re reading together.
If this sounds like the kind of conversations you’ve been wanting to have, we’d love to have you read along with us. We start this Sunday.
