Introducing Bill Webster, one of the quiet heroes making our patients' stay at Port Macquarie Private Hospital less stressful.

Bill is a local hairdresser who has been attending to the locks of patients here at the hospital for over 30 years, giving them a sense of normalcy and dignity during their recovery journey.

Thank you, Bill, for your wonderful contribution to our hospital - we appreciate you!

When the sun is shining, what better time to announce we have completed our roof solar installation at Port Macquarie Private Hospital?!

Part of Ramsay Health Care's commitment to investing in renewable energy resources, this installation was coordinated with the near completion of the development of key areas of the hospital including a seventh theatre, new reception areas and sustainable infrastructure upgrades.

We are proud to be harnessing the beautiful sunshine in Port Macquarie to assist in our care of patients.

Check out our new reception area for our day surgery patients, which just opened its doors on Monday!

We are so excited about how this small extension has proved a big success with a more spacious check-in and seating area for patients arriving at Port Macquarie Private Hospital via Parker Street.

Our development is nearing completion, and our new reception areas are looking especially welcoming for our patients, staff, visitors and doctors.

Sending a big congratulations to our team member Glenn, who has been promoted to Brigade Captain as part of his work with the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Glenn works across allied health and maintenance here at Port Macquarie Private Hospital, and joined the RFS after the 2019-2020 bushfire season.

He is a valued member of our team who is very reliable in times of crisis, and we appreciate everything he does for us and our local community.

Congratulations to our very own physiotherapist Brea Bax, who has been awarded a Ramsay Health Care National Scholarship!

Brea has worked at Port Macquarie Private Hospital for over 10 years, and used the grant to complete a course focused on developing her skills in the management of complex hip, pelvic and lumbopelvic conditions.

"The Ramsay Scholarship has already benefited the outpatient physiotherapy service here in Port Macquarie," she said.

"Since completing the course, I have been able to incorporate more specific assessment techniques and targeted treatment strategies into the management of patients with hip, pelvic and low back pain. This has enhanced my confidence in managing complex presentations and improved the quality of care I provide to our community.

"These skills have also allowed me to share new knowledge and treatment approaches with colleagues, helping to strengthen the overall capability of our physiotherapy team."

This week we held a fundraiser for a very special member of our team here at Port Macquarie Private Hospital 🧡

Oscar is currently doing work experience with our Environmental Services team, and he has earned his place at the 2026 Adaptive CrossFit Games in California.

Last year he competed in Las Vegas and came third in the world! He is currently the youngest person competing in the Men’s Intellectual Disability with Chromosomal Condition division and is aiming for another podium finish.

Our team, including Oscar's mum Lucy, who also works at the hospital, wore orange and sold cupcakes to raise money to get him and his team to California.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we wanted to share our wonderful team member Wendy's story of reconnecting with the family she never knew she had.

Wendy has been a valued member of our Environmental Services team for over 16 years.

When she was 40, she was shopping at a shoe store in Sydney when she was approached by a woman who looked remarkably like her. The woman introduced herself and explained that she believed they might be family.

The chance encounter led to a remarkable discovery - the woman was Wendy's niece, and Wendy learned she was a child of the Stolen Generations.

What followed was an emotional journey of reunion and healing. Wendy met her birth mother for the first time and was embraced by a whole mob of cousins, siblings, nieces and nephews.

Today, Wendy proudly identifies as a Dharawal woman. Through reconnecting with her family, she has also reconnected with her culture, her community and her Country.

Reflecting on her journey, Wendy speaks with gratitude of the chance encounter that occurred that day in Sydney. What might have seemed like a simple conversation in a shoe store became the moment that changed her life forever.

This NAIDOC Week, Wendy's story reminds us that culture lives through family and community. It also reminds us of the resilience of First Nations people and the importance of truth-telling, healing and belonging.

Last week, the team at Coolenberg Day Surgery performed their final eye procedures before moving back in with us here at Port Macquarie Private Hospital.

Our new development, which includes a new theatre, means we are able to centralise all surgical procedures.

To celebrate this new chapter, Dr Nick Confos and Dr Chris Brunsdon were joined by the nursing team for a well-deserved cake.

All future ophthalmic (eye-related) surgery will be undertaken at Port Macquarie Private Hospital on Lake Road - we look forward to seeing you there!

We're a proud supporter of The Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF) here at Port Macquarie Private Hospital, providing physiotherapy and a running clinic for champions who will participate in the IMF Running and Walking (RAW) Championships in Weipa.

The IMF delivers running and physical literacy programs that address the unacceptable health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians.

Pictured here is runner Dani Toovey-Dorsett (with her daughter Abi), Darren Froggatt, doctors who support the cause, CEO Moira Finch, and Dr Anna Malone, who is joining the trip as part of the medical support team.

Congratulations and good luck to everyone heading to Weipa!

We're celebrating the wonderful Shayne, who has been an executive assistant here at Port Macquarie Hospital for the last 21 years!

This remarkable milestone coincides with her retirement, where Shayne says she's looking forward to travelling, welcoming a new grandbaby, taking up a few new hobbies and improving on her golf.

We held a celebration for Shayne to mark her incredible time with us and to say thank you for her amazing contribution at our hospital and across the Ramsay Health Care team.
