None of this was a resolution. I just noticed one day I’d stopped.

Save it for whenever you need reminding, and tell me what’s on your version of the list.

Here’s the inconvenient truth:

The biggest improvements to your skin aren’t always found in a bottle.

They’re found in the things that don’t fit neatly into a morning routine.

Eat enough. Sleep properly. Protect your skin from the sun. Laugh more than you doomscroll.

Then, when you’ve built the foundation, we can talk about everything medicine can add.

The conversation around cosmetic medicine often focuses on the next trending treatment.

I think that’s the wrong question.

The best outcomes I’ve seen over my career have rarely come from one remarkable appointment. They come from a long-term strategy. Small, informed decisions made consistently over years, not dramatic interventions made in moments.

Healthy skin. Thoughtful treatment. Realistic expectations. Patience.

That is what creates results that still look like you, just your best version.

Skin and structure aren’t built in a day. They’re built in the decisions you make over a lifetime.

Sometimes I think I should keep a notebook of the things I hear in consultations.

Not because they’re unusual, but because the same questions come up again and again.

They’re a reminder that most people aren’t looking for perfection. They’re looking for clarity. A plan. Someone to tell them what matters, what doesn’t, and how to invest in their skin for the long term.

Here’s what’s been overheard in clinic this week.

Daffodil Day is a reminder of what happens when research, generosity and hope come together.

In 1986, the five-year cancer survival rate was around 46%. Today, it’s 72%. That progress didn’t happen by chance. It happened because people chose to support research that changed lives.

As a doctor, I’ve seen what the right treatment can mean for patients and their families. Every advance starts somewhere, and often it starts with research.

Today I bought my daffodils. A small gesture, but one that supports a future where every person diagnosed with cancer has access to the treatment that’s right for them.

Here’s to the next 40 years of progress. 🌼

People assume driving fast and practising medicine have nothing in common. Both punish overcorrection. The skill was never in how much you can do. It’s in knowing what not to do this time. Ageing is a privilege. Overcorrecting it is not a compliment to anyone.

Every so often someone asks why there are no before and afters on this page. It reads as modesty. It is partly law. The rules around advertising cosmetic procedures in Australia are strict, and for good reason. But even without them, I would not post two photos and call it proof. A before and after is one angle, one light, one moment, chosen by the person selling you the outcome. The work I am proudest of does not photograph well. It just looks like someone slept properly, drank water and made peace with their face. If you are wondering what is realistic for yours, that is a conversation for the consultation room, not the comments.
