Ever wondered what a kid’s counselling space looks like?

It’s not scary or clinical—it’s warm, calm, and designed to help children feel safe.

Think:
🧸 Toys
🎨 Creative activities
💛 A relaxed environment

Because when children feel comfortable, they open up in their own way, in their own time.

Hi, I’m Deb 👋

I work with children and families to help navigate big feelings, anxiety, and life’s challenges.

I know reaching out for support can feel like a big step.
That’s why I focus on creating a space where both you and your child feel safe, understood, and supported.

Because every child deserves to feel confident, calm, and heard 💛

Not sure how to talk to your child about big feelings?

Try this simple shift 👇
Instead of: “You’re fine”
Try: “I can see this feels really big for you”

Instead of: “Stop crying”
Try: “I’m here with you”

Validation helps children feel safe—and that’s when real communication begins 💛

👉 Save this for those tough moments 💛
You've got this!

MYTH: “𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚’𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕.”
TRUTH: Early support makes a huge difference.

While some challenges pass with time, others can grow if left unsupported.

Getting help early can:
✔ Build resilience
✔ Strengthen emotional skills
✔ Prevent bigger challenges later

It’s not about labelling your child.
It’s about supporting them.

👉 If you’ve been wondering whether to reach out—this might be your sign.

Anxiety in kids isn’t always obvious.
It doesn’t always sound like “I feel anxious.”

It can sound like:
“I don’t want to go to school”
“My tummy hurts”
“I can’t do it”

Or look like:
• Avoidance
• Tantrums
• Perfectionism
• Constant reassurance seeking

Underneath it all is a child who feels overwhelmed.
Understanding this is the first step in helping them 💛

👉 Save this so you can come back to it when you need.

“𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈?”
It’s a question we get all the time 👇

Counselling for children doesn’t look like “sit and talk” therapy.

It looks like:
🎨 Drawing
🧸 Play
🗣 Gentle conversations
💭 Learning how to understand emotions

Through these, children learn how to:
✔ Express their feelings
✔ Build confidence
✔ Manage anxiety
✔ Navigate challenges

It’s all done in a safe, supportive space where they can just be themselves.

Ever feel like something’s “off” with your child… but you can’t quite put your finger on it?

Sometimes it doesn’t look like sadness.

It can look like:
• Big meltdowns over small things
• Trouble sleeping
• Avoiding school
• Becoming unusually quiet or withdrawn
• Constant worries or clinginess

These are often signs your child is having a hard time managing big emotions.
The good news? With the right support, kids can learn to understand and manage these feelings in a healthy way 💛

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available.

👉 Save this for later or reach out if you’d like to chat.

📱🚫 While social media has its benefits, it's crucial to recognise the potential risks for young children. Here's why early access to social media can be detrimental, with some stats:

✔ Mental Health: Studies show that 1 in 4 Australian children experience mental health issues related to social media use.
✔ Cyberbullying: Around 21% of Australian kids report being victims of online bullying.
✔ Inappropriate Content: Young children may be exposed to age-inappropriate content, which can affect their development and understanding of the world.
✔ Sleep Disruption: Excessive screen time, especially before bed, can lead to sleep problems. 60% of Australian kids use their devices in the hour before sleep, impacting their rest and overall health.

It's important to set boundaries and monitor your child's social media usage to protect their well-being.

🌍👂 Happy World Listening Day! Today, let's focus on truly hearing the voices that matter the most—our children. Active listening helps us understand their world better and build stronger connections.

Here are some tips to improve how we listen to our kids:

🌟 Give them your full attention: Put away distractions and make eye contact.
🌟 Validate their feelings: Show empathy and acknowledge their emotions.
🌟 Ask open-ended questions: Encourage them to share more about their thoughts and experiences.
🌟 Be patient and calm: Give them time to express themselves without interruption.
