We’ve all experienced frustrating behaviour while travelling, but how do you speak up without making the situation worse? ✈️

I recently contributed to an article for The Canberra Times, sharing my insights on managing common travel frustrations with calm communication, empathy and clear boundaries.

As I shared in the article, “The aim is always to resolve the issue, not to win the interaction.”

Thank you to journalist Anna Houlahan for including my perspective 🙌🏼

Understanding each other’s issues is an important part of building a stronger relationship 🩷

Couples therapy creates a supportive space to listen, communicate openly and better understand what your partner may be feeling or experiencing. It’s not about deciding who is right or wrong, but learning how to navigate challenges together with greater empathy, respect and connection 🙌🏼

I was pleased to contribute to this important conversation in body+soul, around painful s*x and intimacy. In the article, I spoke about the importance of approaching these conversations with compassion, shifting the focus away from performance and towards understanding, connection and open communication between partners.

It’s a topic that deserves to be spoken about openly, because no one should feel embarrassed or alone when navigating challenges with intimacy 🩷

My heart is very full as I write this 🩷

I want to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to the incredibly courageous couples I have had the privilege of working with this year.

I know how much courage it takes to look honestly at your relationship, to have difficult conversations, to stay curious about one another, and to keep choosing your relationship even when things feel hard.

I have witnessed so many couples work incredibly hard, show extraordinary commitment, and take brave steps towards creating something more secure, connected and alive together.

After 28 years of working with thousands of couples, I never take it for granted that people invite me into such an intimate and important part of their lives. It is a privilege I feel deeply.

What continues to inspire me is that when a couple creates a secure-functioning relationship, it doesn’t just transform their experience of love. It changes the atmosphere of their home.

Their children feel it.
Their families feel it.
The people around them feel it.

There is more peace. More connection. More joy. More room to breathe.

And I believe those ripples matter.

The way we love, repair and connect with one another at home has the potential to create change far beyond the walls of our own relationships.

And this is where I find myself looking towards 2027 with so much excitement.

After 28 years of doing this work, I feel more inspired than ever about what is possible.

I have so many ideas swirling around — new ways of bringing my work to couples, new experiences, new programmes, beautiful in-person opportunities and ways of creating deeper, more meaningful connection.

I’m dreaming about couple retreats where couples can step away from everyday life and truly focus on each other.

I’m imagining dynamic in-person sessions that are immersive, practical and transformative.

I’m excited about creating new programmes that can reach couples and families in different ways and bring the principles of secure functioning into more homes.

And perhaps most exciting of all, I’m allowing myself the space to dream bigger — to take everything I’ve learnt over 28 years and explore what else I can create with it.

So, for the remainder of this year, I’m taking a little social media hiatus — but I’m absolutely still seeing couples.

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out, there is still time to schedule a session with me before the end of the year. If your relationship needs some support, or you simply want to invest in making an already good relationship even stronger, I’d love to work with you.

You can book a session here:

At the same time, I’m going to use this quieter space to reflect, imagine, create and dream about what comes next.

There is something wonderfully energising about giving yourself permission to pause — not because you have run out of ideas, but because you have so many ideas that you need space to explore them.

And that is exactly where I am.

I’m excited.
I’m curious.
I’m dreaming big.

And 2027 feels like the beginning of a very exciting new chapter. ✨

I can’t wait to share what I’ve been dreaming about.

To every couple who has trusted me with your story, your vulnerability, your hopes and your hearts over the past 28 years ~ thank you.

Whether I worked with you recently or many years ago, I want you to know how deeply grateful I am for the opportunity to have walked alongside you during such an important chapter of your lives.

Every couple has taught me something. Every story has stayed with me. And every relationship I’ve had the privilege of supporting has contributed to the work I continue to do today.

It has been an extraordinary 28 years ~ and I feel incredibly lucky to be entering this next chapter with so much still to dream, create and share.

Here’s to everything we’ve learnt, everything we’ve created, and everything still waiting to be imagined.

I can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.

See you in 2027 ❤️

With love,

Melissa 🩷
