This week on 'Ask our physios a question' we're answering a common pregnancy question - what's causing my back pain?

Back pain requires a physical assessment to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
Common causes of back pain in pregnancy can be associated with the additional strain on the joints of the lower back and pelvis, caused by the softening of the ligaments.

Other causes of back pain can be related to the movements used when shifting from a lying position to sitting, or sitting to standing.

We always recommend an assessment to ascertain the causes and find the fastest solution.

Denis' tips for arthritis sufferers.

Arthritis flares up in the colder months.
As temperatures drop, mornings can be hard to manoeuvre with arthritis pain.

To ease the pain in the morning, submerge your hand in warm water for 30 seconds. Open and close your hand under the water.

This will may ease your arthritis pain and allow you to get started with your day.
