Are Your Omega-3 Supplements Actually Working? (The Science Behind Cellular Balance)

Most health-conscious Australians already know the routine: grab a bottle of fish oil capsules from the local chemist or health food store, add more salmon to the weekly meal plan, and check "essential fatty acids" off the daily wellness list. It is widely accepted that Omega-3s support cardiovascular health, cognitive function, and inflammatory balance. But here is a question worth asking: How do you actually know your current supplement is doing anything at all?...

Most health-conscious Australians already know the routine: grab a bottle of fish oil capsules from the local chemist or health food store, add more salmon to the weekly meal plan, and check & #822…

If your child struggles to focus, switches quickly between activities, or seems 'hooked' on screens… you’re not imagining it.

But it’s also not as simple as screens 'damaging' attention.

The research shows something more nuanced — screens can shape what the brain expects, especially when content is fast, stimulating, and constant.

This doesn’t mean you need to remove screens completely. It means understanding how they affect attention, and how to create balance that actually supports your child’s development.

This post breaks it down clearly, with practical strategies you can use straight away.

A major UK clinical trial has just completed recruitment, with hundreds of women agreeing to undergo keyhole surgery for pelvic pain.

The women knew that if the surgeon found only superficial endometriosis, they would be randomly assigned to either:
• have the lesions removed
• have the lesions left in place, after undergoing only diagnostic laparoscopy

The women were told what had been found, but neither they nor the clinicians caring for them afterwards knew whether the lesions had been removed until 12 months later.

That is an extraordinary gift to science.

For decades, it's been assumed that removing superficial endometriosis lesions would relieve pain. But, until now, that had never been properly tested.

These women volunteered so that future patients can have better answers than: “This is just what we’ve always done.”

And stay tuned for my new book about periods. I’m really (really!) hoping these trial results become available in time to be included.

Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself in a shop window and barely recognised the person staring back? Shoulders rolled forward, head jutting ahead, upper back curving where it used to stand tall.

You might tell yourself, "Well, I’m getting older. This is just what happens."

It isn't.

That gradual hunch has a name: kyphosis. But more importantly, it is not a natural, unavoidable consequence of ageing. It is a condition that sneaks up on you over many years, driven by how we live, how we move, and how we ignore our bodies' early warnings.

The most important thing to know is this: It is correctable.

The "Silent Creep" of Modern Life

Kyphosis rarely happens overnight. It is the result of a slow, silent accumulation of bad habits and untreated stress on your spine. In our modern world, we spend hours hunched over smartphones, laptops, and steering wheels. We sit for long stretches, letting gravity pull our spines forward.

This article describes the all to common misconception that older people hunch over naturally. It gives a real strategy to reversing this.
