Our Kangaroo Valley Coordinator met with the state member for Kiama, Katelin Mclnerney to introduce the Kangaroo Valley project.

Cares R Us have been working with the local community to support flexible family day care options in the area and provide a stronger support pathway for children, families and the wider community.

It was a good opportunity to share what we are working on and look forward to having more conversations. 💛

One of the nice things about being in Kangaroo Valley is how much of this is around us.

Open grass, trees, gardens, fresh air, and little places that make the community feel connected.

It also gives the children room to notice things, ask questions, run around, slow down, and learn from what is right in front of them.

Simple, everyday learning with a pretty good view too 💛

Part of nurturing children as an educator is getting them outdoors and into nature.

Even better when you have a small farm in your backyard.

Children love being outside, especially when there is something to do.

CARES R US is working on creating more local family day care options for the community in Kangaroo Valley, with child safety and home suitability at the centre of the process.

There is also work happening now around local enquiries, educator interest, home checks and the practical approvals needed to get things moving properly.

Family day care gives families a small, home based setting with one approved educator. Children spend their day in a familiar environment, with a consistent person who gets to know them properly.

The educator learns their routine, their moods, their interests, and the small things that help the day go well.

Some children need time to warm up. Some need a quiet start. Some want to talk through everything. Some show how they feel before they can explain it.
