As a parent or carer of a person with disability, you see firsthand what helps the person you support get involved in sport and physical activity, and what gets in the way.

The Queenslanders with Disability Network's Empower project is building a statewide picture to improve sport and physical activity opportunities for people with disability.

Your voice can help create more welcoming and inclusive spaces by finding the barriers that stand in the way.

Let’s dispel some myths about in-home aged care support.

It doesn’t automatically mean giving up control or changing how you live - far from it!

It’s designed to help older people stay safe and confident, and keep doing the things that matter most, in their own home and on their own terms.

Support might look like:

• Help with showering, dressing, or getting ready
• Light housework, laundry, and meal preparation
• Transport to appointments or the shops
• Support to stay socially connected and active
• Reminders and routines that make life feel easier.

Ultimately, you’re still in the driver’s seat - because good aged care is person-centred, so you stay involved in the decisions.

It’s a common worry. The words ‘aged care’ can sound like a big step, and many people assume it means giving up control, changing how they live, or having strangers...

We are so proud of the great work of our Dementia Together team!

Their efforts really make a difference for those living with dementia.

They regularly use music-based therapy with their Rockhampton, Yeppoon, and Mackay clients, and the results speak for themselves.

Familiar music, combined with gentle movements and dancing, is beneficial in so many ways for those living with dementia.

The activities can help improve mental health outcomes while also building connections and friendships.

Thank you to all of our Dementia Together team members! We really appreciate your efforts.
