This weekend was spent at Compass House Retreat where staff took part in activities that helped strengthen the already established bond that we all have to further the services we provide.

At Compass House we invest in good people, allow them to shine, instill them with confidence, skills and support to better support those we are here for.

Friday's are best spent on Mount Archer taking in the beautiful weather, cooler change and local wildlife.

Participants and Staff enjoyed a BBQ lunch, a walk around the scenic lookout, listening to some tunes and testing their knowledge with some music trivia. Friday's are for outings, always a highlight!

Today we said goodbye to an integral member of the Compass House Family, David Young.

David came to Compass House in 2020 having suffered a stroke which changed his life, but little did we know how much he would change ours. He was stubborn and strong-willed, but through that tough, stoic exterior was a man with a heart of gold who yearned to learn new skills, make new friends and be as cheeky and charming in only the way David could.

He had a burning passion for cooking, inspired by his late mother. He learned and discovered a new passion for woodworking, taking any excuse to make loved ones something heartfelt by hand. He was a motor head, having spent his working life as a truck driver and obsessing over Peter Brock's racing car. But most importantly to David he was a father, sharing how proud he was of his son to anyone who was willing to listen.

Rest easy David, we will not forget you and your Compass House Family will miss you dearly.

Thursday mornings in woodwork are all about building skills and confidence at Compass House🪵
David has been working hard on his spice rack with his support worker’s, and he’s super impressed with the progress he’s made — and so are we!

It’s been brilliant to see the care, focus, and pride that’s gone into this project. A great example of what can be achieved with encouragement, patience, and teamwork 👏

Tuesday afternoons are for cooking at Compass House👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
Last week, two of our participants got hands-on in the kitchen, preparing ingredients for their class. From learning knife skills to working together and building confidence, it’s about so much more than just the recipe.

Monday and Tuesday mornings have been full of colour and creativity at Compass House 🎨
Our arts and crafts sessions this week focused on painting galaxies for our space-themed window display — and the results are out of this world ✨

It’s been fantastic to see everyone getting creative, experimenting with colours, and bringing the universe to life together 🚀
