ANYONE CAN LOOK GOOD WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT…
But what happens when something goes wrong?
Your power wheelchair suddenly decides Monday morning is an excellent time to stop cooperating. Your mobility scooter develops a noise that can only be described as… “That definitely wasn't there yesterday.”
A part breaks. Something needs adjusting. Or the equipment simply isn't working the way you expected.
That's when you discover something pretty important:
YOU DIDN'T JUST BUY THE EQUIPMENT — YOU CHOSE THE PEOPLE STANDING BEHIND IT, LOCAL PEOPLE, LOCAL BUSINESS.
At Big Mikes FNQ Mobility, we believe that's one of the biggest reasons to choose a local Assistive Technology provider. Because mobility equipment isn't something you buy, use for a while and throw away when there's a problem. PEOPLE RELY ON IT.
For some of our customers, a wheelchair isn't just a wheelchair.
It's how they get around their home. It's how they go to work.
It's how they see friends and family. It's how they participate in their community. It's independence.
So when something goes wrong, hearing…
"Please submit an online support request and allow 7–10 business days for a response…" OR "we will need to send it down to our Head Office" OR "we don't have any service technicians"
OR "its broken we can just sell you a new one" isn't particularly helpful.
At Big Mikes, you can:
Pick up the phone and call us
Walk into our Cairns or Townsville store.
Talk to our workshop and service team.
Speak with people who actually know mobility and Assistive Technology.
Have equipment assessed, adjusted, serviced and repaired.
And sometimes the answer might be simple. Sometimes it won't be. Sometimes we'll need parts. Sometimes we'll need to talk with the manufacturer or supplier. And occasionally we'll all stand around the equipment scratching our heads thinking…
“Well… that's a new one.”
But here's what matters:
WE'LL WORK WITH YOU TO FIND A SOLUTION.
That's what local service means to us. It doesn't mean we'll never have a problem. No business can honestly promise that.
It means when there IS a problem, we don't disappear. We're here.
Before the sale. During the sale. And importantly — after the sale.
That's also why we take so much time at the beginning to ask questions, involve OTs, carers and support people where appropriate, trial equipment and make sure we're recommending the right solution. Because our motto isn't:
“Let's sell something and see how we go.”
It's: “WE WANT TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.”
And if something does go wrong afterwards? We want the opportunity to help make it right. That's the kind of relationship we're trying to build with our customers throughout North Queensland.
Not simply: Supplier → Customer → Invoice.
But: PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE.
Because ultimately, Assistive Technology isn't really about equipment. It's about helping people remain independent, comfortable, mobile and involved in the life they want to live. And we think that's worth doing properly.
