This is something I would really like women to stop accepting without questioning.
Is it common to feel different through perimenopause and menopause?
Absolutely.
Does that mean every symptom should automatically be dismissed as “just your hormones”?
No.
Nor do I think the answer is blaming your hormones for everything happening in your life.
If you're exhausted, living on caffeine, sleeping badly, carrying enormous stress, eating whatever you can grab between commitments, using alcohol to switch off and pushing yourself through exercise because you're frightened of gaining weight, your body is responding to much more than oestrogen and progesterone.
Menopause happens inside a body that has already lived a life.
Pregnancies, Illness, Stress, Work, Relationships, Loss, Nutrition.
Sleep, Movement and Genetics.
Decades of accumulated demands.
That's why I don't treat “menopause” as though every woman experiencing it is biologically identical.
I want to know your history, pathology, symptoms, nutrition, sleep, stress, what
your nervous system is like and your life.
Because sometimes what we've normalised as “just menopause” is a woman running on caffeine, cortisol and adrenaline and wondering why she feels terrible.
Common doesn't necessarily mean optimal.
And you don't need to wait until everything falls apart before you're allowed to investigate why you don't feel well.
If you've been wondering whether what you're experiencing is simply something you have to put up with, book a Clarity Call with me. ( link in bio or DM)
Let's look at what's actually happening.
