Exactly 👍 Well done team ! You’re a family now with x2 very different roles … support each other and nurturing the mother so she can nurture the child ! Fathers & Mothers are the best team to support each other and that is love ❤️ in action for the well being of the child
🥰🌸

Stop telling breastfeeding mothers they’re “selfish” because Dad can’t feed the baby.

Seriously.

A father does not need a bottle in his hand to bond with his child. And breastfeeding does not shut him out of parenthood.

He can bring the baby to her at 2 AM. He can change the diaper afterward. He can burp the baby. He can refill her water before she even realizes it’s empty. He can make sure she eats. He can take the baby when the feeding is over so she can shower, sleep, or just have ten damn minutes where nobody is touching her. He can sit beside her during the feeds that feel endless. He can remind her she’s doing a good job when she’s crying and wondering if she can keep going.

He can protect the breastfeeding relationship instead of needing breastfeeding to make room for him.

When I was breastfeeding my son, my husband worked graveyard. Ten-hour shifts. Overtime. He couldn’t take a feeding off my plate.

So you know what he did?

He came home exhausted and made me breakfast.

And I’m not talking about tossing me a granola bar.

I’m talking omelets. Avocado. Cheese. Waffles. A whole bomb-ass breakfast.

He understood something that I wish more people understood:

If I was feeding our baby, somebody needed to feed me.

That was his part.

He was fueling the person who was fueling our son.

And 16 years later, I still remember it.

I don't remember every latch. I don't remember every middle-of-the-night feed. But I remember sitting there exhausted and knowing somebody was taking care of me while I took care of our baby.

THAT is breastfeeding support.

Breastfeeding was something my body did.

But it was never something I had to do alone.

Dad doesn't need to replace Mom to matter.

Sometimes his biggest role in the breastfeeding journey is making damn sure she doesn't have to carry the rest of the world while she's carrying that part.

Motherhood is a door you don't have to walk through alone.
You've been struggling. Maybe your birth didn't go the way you hoped. Maybe feeding is painful and scary. Maybe you're not okay, and you feel like you should be. And you're sitting there thinking, "Why doesn't this feel right?"
Here's what I know: motherhood is a complete transformation. It's huge. And nobody tells you how to prepare for it or how to ask for help when you need it.
I'm Julie. I'm a retired midwife with 30+ years of experience, a lactation consultant, and a mother of four who's walked this road myself. I've experienced instrumental delivery, normal delivery, emergency and planned C-sections, and a twin birth. I've also been through postnatal depression, so I know what it feels like when your mind and body are fighting you.
What I do is nurture the mother so she can nurture the baby. Whether you need support during your birth as a doula, help with breastfeeding and lactation, or guidance after a difficult birth experience, I'm here to turn this from something you're surviving into something you're actually enjoying.
You don't have to push through the pain. You don't have to feel broken. And you definitely don't have to do this without support. You matter. Your journey matters. And I'm here for you.

"I cried when the lactation consultant spilt my breast milk that I just got done pumping.⠀
I’d never cried over spilt milk before, so why now? It was only day 5 of our NICU journey and I was juggling so much all while attempting to maintain a good supply. She was just doing her job, but I was overflowing with so many emotions that after it happened, I was rude and told her I didn’t need them to come back. After all, I breastfed my other two boys. I thought I knew everything there was to know about breastfeeding. ⠀
What I failed to acknowledge was that no matter how many babes you’ve breastfed, no two journeys are the same. From oversupply, to serious depression as a result of negative thoughts about my supply. From exclusively nursing a full term baby, to exclusively pumping a preemie for what felt like the longest 3 weeks of my life. From being embarrassed for breastfeeding, to feeling ashamed for not. Each journey taught me something new about this beautiful, challenging, and rewarding experience. ⠀
Breast can be best, but only if your mental health as a mother doesn’t suffer. It took breastfeeding three boys to finally accept that. This journey will throw you curveballs, it will be harder than you ever thought imaginable, and it will stretch you so far thin you’re certain you will snap so quick like an old rubber band. This journey will also create an unspeakable bond that words can never fully illustrate. ⠀
I’ve spilt some more breast milk since that day, and you know what? I didn’t cry."
