For many Australians, cancer has touched their lives in some way — whether through their own diagnosis or that of a family member, friend or loved one.

The daffodil is a symbol of hope — hope for better treatments, hope for more precious time with the people we love, and hope for a future where no one has to face cancer alone.

From today, Medicare requires patients who are bulk billed to sign a Medicare Assignment of Benefit Agreement.

This allows Medicare to pay your doctor directly for your consultation.

📱 Phone & Telehealth Appointments
If you have a bulk-billed phone or telehealth appointment, you will receive an SMS from Alma Street Medical with a secure link to digitally sign your Medicare Assignment of Benefit Agreement.

✅ This SMS is legitimate and will come from Alma Street Medical.
✅ The secure link is used only to capture your Medicare consent.
✅ We will never ask for bank details, passwords, or personal financial information via SMS.

🏥 In-Clinic Appointments
You may be asked to sign electronically before leaving the clinic.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these new Medicare requirements.

💙 What is Bowel Cancer? 💙

Bowel cancer develops when abnormal cells grow in the lining of the bowel (large intestine or re**um). It often begins as small growths called polyps, which can become cancerous over time.

Common symptoms may include:
✔️ Changes in bowel habits
✔️ Blood in the stool
✔️ Abdominal pain or bloating
✔️ Unexplained fatigue or weight loss

Sometimes bowel cancer may have no symptoms in the early stages, which is why screening is so important.

🩺 Eligible Australians aged 45–74 can complete a free bowel screening test through the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

📞 If you have symptoms or concerns, book an appointment with your GP. Early detection can save lives. 💙

Alma Street Medical will be closed Today Thursday 11th June for Rockhampton Show Day.
