Every child communicates, and not always with words. What can look like acting out, shutting down, or pushing back is often a young person's way of telling us something. Maybe they are overwhelmed, overstimulated, tired, or just not feeling understood.

When we take the time to look past the behaviour and ask what is really going on, everything changes. We can respond with patience instead of frustration, and support instead of judgement, and help each child feel safe, seen, and understood.

That is the heart of our child and youth services. We see the child, not just the behaviour.

Our support workers hold a minimum Certificate III in Community Services, current First Aid and CPR, and their Blue and Yellow Card clearances. Many bring years of hands-on experience in the sector on top of that.

Their strength, their culture, and their deep connection to Country is something we do not take for granted, and it makes our community richer for it.

Today we honour that, and we pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of this land, past and present.

Sounds simple, doesn't it? But for a lot of people in our community, belonging isn't something they've always felt. That's exactly why we show up the way we do.

It's in the way we listen before we assume. The way we work with people, not just for them. The way we make sure every person we support feels seen, valued and part of something.

Because belonging shouldn't depend on ticking the right boxes. It should just be there, for everyone. 💚
