Pride Month always feels like a good moment to stop and check in, is the support we're offering actually working for everyone walking through our door?

Plenty of the people we work with are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and that's just part of who they are. It shouldn't mean having to explain yourself, edit yourself, or work twice as hard to feel comfortable.

It should just mean turning up, being yourself, and getting on with your day. That's what we're here for.

Halfway through the year already. How did that happen?

When we stop and look back, it's the small moments that stick. The kid who finally felt brave enough to give fishing a go. The mum who rang in tears because her son had a good week. The bloke on the mowing crew who knocked on a regular's door just to check in because something felt off that day.

That's what this work actually is. Not the big stuff you put on a website, the quiet stuff that happens between people.

🌈 Celebrating pride, identity and connection at Rainbow on the Reef!

One of our new clients who's Fursona's name is Spencer (White shirt), recently headed along to Rainbow on the Reef in Gladstone with their RSS support worker Jay (Black Shirt), who also joined in on the Fursuiting fun! This annual event creates a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community to celebrate culture, pride, identity and diversity.

For our client, the day was a chance to identify exactly as they wished, feel supported at a new event, and connect with like-minded friends. Moments like these are what great support is all about 💛

Yep, absolutely.

For a lot of the people we work with, mental health and disability support aren't two separate things; they're tangled up in the same day, the same routine, the same week. So we don't treat them like separate things either.

Our support is peer-style, not clinical. That means walking alongside people through the everyday stuff, getting out of the house, catching up with mates, sticking to routines, working through the rough patches when they pop up.
