You don’t need to be an expert or have all the answers. Sometimes simply asking “R U OK?” and taking the time to genuinely listen can make a real difference 💛

Taja Ingram - Allied Health Assistant

I am an Allied Health Assistant at Your Therapy Place, working closely with our Occupational Therapists to support clients in developing meaningful skills. My role includes assisting with resources, preparing therapy materials, and participating in sessions to expand my clinical knowledge. I am also currently studying Occupational Therapy, which strengthens my passion for delivering supportive, client-centred care.

What do you enjoy most about your work or what you are particularly passionate about?
I am passionate about creating a positive, encouraging environment where clients feel supported to try new things. Helping others reach their goals and celebrating their progress is what motivates me every day.

Tianna Medlin - Practice Manager & Resident Comedian

With over 15 years of experience in customer service and management, I bring a genuine love of people to my role as Practice Manager at Your Therapy Place.

I’m passionate about building a strong team culture and creating an environment where both our team and the people we support feel heard, valued, and genuinely cared for. I truly believe that when a team feels connected and empowered, the ripple effect is better outcomes for every client and family we work with.

Working closely with our clinical team, I help ensure that our operations run smoothly while always keeping the focus where it belongs - on the client. I’m a strong advocate for a people-centred approach, open communication, and transparency, and I’m always happy to have a conversation if something needs clarifying or improving.

You’ll often find me behind the scenes making sure everything runs seamlessly, but my favourite part of this role is seeing people feel welcomed, respected, and supported from their very first interaction with our practice.

Farewell to Chels ✨

Over the past 7 weeks, we have had the pleasure of hosting Chelsey, a third-year Occupational Therapy student from JCU, who completed her first professional placement with us at Your Therapy Place.

Throughout her placement, Chelsey had the opportunity to experience a diverse range of occupational therapy practice, working alongside our Occupational Therapists, Aleisha and Jané, across both paediatric practice and adult Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs).

Within our paediatric space, Chelsey had the opportunity to plan and run both clinic-based and school-based therapy sessions, alongside Aleisha, gaining hands-on experience supporting children across different environments. Throughout this experience, she developed her knowledge and skills across areas including sensory processing and regulation, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor development, coordination, interoception and neurodiversity-affirming practice, while developing an understanding of how these areas can influence a child’s participation and everyday functioning.

Within the FCA space, Chelsey gained hands-on experience across the assessment process, including client interviews, functional assessment, administration of standardised assessments, clinical documentation and report writing. She also developed her clinical reasoning around interpreting assessment findings and understanding how a person’s disability can impact their everyday functioning and support needs.

It has been wonderful to watch Chelsey’s confidence and skills grow over the course of her placement, particularly as she progressed from observing and learning to taking a more active role in therapy sessions, assessments, client interactions and clinical reasoning.

Chelsey has been a pleasure to have as part of the YTP family, and we wish her all the very best as she continues her studies and future OT placements. We look forward to seeing where her OT journey takes her!

Isabel ‘Issy’ Woo - Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist, I help you be as independent as possible with the things you want to do and may need to do. Basically, my job is to help you build skills and strategies, and I want to make it as fun as possible because who doesn't love to learn through having some fun? I quite enjoy all areas of working with kids and teens. Feeding however has been an area of interest, and I have just had the opportunity to complete further training in this area.

What do you enjoy most about your work or what you are particularly passionate about?

I like that every day can be different because everyone is different.

Courtney Sheedy - PBS Practitioner

I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Sociology in 2001 and have since worked across the disability and child protection fields. I have a strong interest in understanding behaviour and what drives us as humans to do what we do. My work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and supporting people to better understand themselves and their experiences.

What do you enjoy most about your work or what you are particularly passionate about?
I’m passionate about providing authentic and meaningful support to clients and their families. I believe in being led by the people I work with, partnering together to create positive change that feels genuine and truly meaningful to them.
