✨ BOOK WEEK ADVENTURES WITH BEAU ✨

Beau was up and buzzing this morning, full of excitement, full of imagination, and absolutely ready to rocket out the door to school. He couldn’t wait to show everyone his Book Week costume, and honestly… who wouldn't want to see that costume!

He didn’t just get dressed, he transformed. One minute he was Beau, and the next he was completely in character, practising poses, perfecting his entrance, and making sure every detail was just right. The smile on his face said everything.

Book Week has a way of turning an ordinary morning into something magical. Costumes become stories, school becomes a stage, and our young people get to shine in the most joyful way.

A growing community initiative is helping strengthen social connection and inclusion across Armidale, with The Monthly Mixer - Armidale All Access Social Events continuing to expand and attract new participants.

The Monthly Mixer provides welcoming, accessible social gatherings where people can meet others, build genuine friendships, and enjoy being part of the community. While the events are particularly suited to people with disability and those seeking to broaden their social networks, the initiative is open to all community members.

The program’s community‑led design is central to its success. Each event is shaped by the people who attend, creating a relaxed, friendly environment that reflects the interests and needs of the community. This approach has helped establish a space where attendees feel comfortable, included and connected.

Organisers encourage new attendees to come along, meet others and help shape future events. Community members who have participated in past Mixers are invited to share their experiences to support ongoing development.

💥National AusAlert Test - Monday 27th July, 2pm AEST.

Just a reminder to our followers & community that Australia's national emergency alert system, AusAlert, will be conducting a nationwide test on Monday 27th July 2026, 2pm AEST.

If you receive a critical alert on your mobile phone or device or notice emergency warning messages during the test, don't be alarmed. It is only a planned test, designed to ensure the system is working correctly.

If you have a hidden phone for safety purposes, it is important that the device is switched to aeroplane mode or turned off at least 1 hour before and not switched back on until 1 hour after the test has been completed.

What is AusAlert?

AusAlert is Australia's national emergency alert system, used to send urgent critical alerts to people who may be affected by serious incidents such as bushfires, floods, cyclones and other emergencies. these critical alerts can provide important information and instructions to help keep people safe during an emergency.

For people living with disability, older Australians, children or anyone who may find unexpected alerts distressing, this is a great opportunity to have a conversation beforehand about what the alert is, what it means, and why this national system is important. Being prepared and understanding how emergency warnings work can help reduce anxiety if a real emergency occurs in the future

Please take a moment to check in with your family, friends, neighbours and those you support to ensure they are aware of the test.

NAIDOC Week is a national opportunity to learn, reflect, and acknowledge the strength and resilience of the world’s oldest continuous cultures.

What NAIDOC Week Represents
NAIDOC Week invites all Australians to:

Celebrate the contributions and leadership of First Nations peoples

Recognise the ongoing connection to Country, community, language, and culture

Reflect on the past and support truth‑telling, healing, and self‑determination

Amplify First Nations voices, stories, and achievements

Each year’s theme encourages deeper understanding and meaningful action. It reminds us that cultural respect is not a one‑week commitment, it is an ongoing responsibility.
