What Is Something I Valued That I Do Not Value Anymore?

For me, the need for people to understand me, to see me, and to acknowledge me was something I strived for.

What became my way of coping was to choose approval and validation to fill my self-worth. I thought by chasing perfection and achievement I would get approval and validation. Performance became my safety—if I was performing, I was enough.

Boy, was I mistaken!

Through my healing journey, I have realised that I no longer need to be understood.

People can only see the world as they see it. They can only show up for you in the way they can. They simply do not have the ability to understand me, and I am OK with that.

I no longer needed you to hear my side of the story.

I no longer needed to change your perception of me.

I no longer needed to correct every misunderstanding.

I no longer needed to fight, justify, or explain to protect or defend my actions.

I no longer needed you to hear me, see me, acknowledge me, or approve of me.

I became aware that I trust, love, and know the person I am. My peace is far more valuable than external validation.

I now choose peace over performance, growth over being stuck, and healing over holding onto old patterns and stories that I replayed into my reality.

True freedom came when I stopped needing other people to validate my experience and started validating it for myself.

My peace is no longer determined by whether I am understood. It is determined by whether I remain true to who I am.

Loneliness isn’t always about being alone.

Sometimes we can be surrounded by people and still feel disconnected. What we truly long for isn’t simply company—it’s genuine connection. It’s feeling seen, heard, accepted, and valued by the people who matter most to us.

Meaningful relationships aren’t measured by the number of people around us, but by the depth of the connection we share. One authentic conversation can nourish our hearts more than a room full of acquaintances.

Take a moment today to reach out to someone who brings peace, safety, and genuine connection into your life. Those relationships are worth nurturing.

🤍 Connection heals. Presence matters. Love grows where we feel truly seen.

The hardest chapters of our lives rarely feel like they are building us while we’re living through them. They often feel unfair, exhausting, and never-ending.

But when we look back, we can often see that those moments taught us resilience, courage, self-awareness, and a strength we never knew we had. The chapter that almost broke you may also be the chapter that introduced you to the strongest version of yourself.

Keep going. Your healing is not only helping you survive—it is shaping the person you’re becoming.

✨ Sometimes your greatest strength is born from the season that tested you the most.

Can Emotions Co-Exist? 🌿

One of the biggest misconceptions about emotions is believing we can only feel one at a time.

The truth is, our emotional world is far more complex.

You can feel grief and peace.
You can feel fear and excitement.
You can feel sadness and gratitude.
You can even feel anger while still experiencing moments of joy.

These aren’t contradictions—they’re part of being human.

Our brains process different experiences simultaneously. One part may be recognising loss, while another is embracing hope. This is known as mixed emotions, and it’s a completely normal part of life’s biggest moments.

When we stop judging our emotions and begin listening to them, we gain a fuller understanding of our experiences. Instead of asking, “Why do I feel so confused?” we can ask, “What is each emotion trying to teach me?”

Every emotion has a purpose.

✨ Sadness may honour what mattered.
✨ Fear may prepare you for uncertainty.
✨ Anger may reveal where a boundary was crossed.
✨ Joy may remind you that hope still exists.

Healing isn’t about choosing one emotion over another.

It’s about creating space for all of them.

When we accept that emotions can co-exist, we move from confusion to clarity, from reacting to responding, and from surviving to truly understanding ourselves.

💙 You don’t have to eliminate difficult emotions to find peace. Sometimes, peace is found in accepting that they can exist alongside hope, love, and happiness.

Family Isn’t Automatically Safe

Just because someone has a title doesn’t mean they are entitled to your energy.

Family is often defined as people connected by blood, marriage, or adoption. But being family doesn’t automatically create emotional connection, safety, or the ability to meet your needs. It doesn’t mean someone is meant to be in every part of your life.

The truth is, you get to choose who you call family. You get to choose how much of your time, love, and energy you invest in the people around you.

As I reflect on my own journey, this is a lesson I’ve had to learn time and time again. Bringing awareness to who truly deserves a place in my life has been one of the most healing decisions I’ve made.

Today, I feel fulfilled. What I didn’t have in the past, I have now created within my own family.

My wisdom has come through experience. My introspection has shifted me from living in the past to living in the present. I can carry my scars without falling apart.

My scars have shaped who I am, but they no longer define me.

I choose who is family. I choose who deserves my energy.

Why Survival Mode Is Necessary

So often we hear people say they want to “get out of survival mode.”

But before we try to leave it behind, we need to understand something important…

Survival mode is not the enemy.

It is one of the most intelligent protective systems your body has.

When your brain perceives a threat—whether physical, emotional or psychological—it automatically activates your survival response. This is your nervous system working exactly as it was designed to.

Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn.

These aren’t signs that you’re broken. They are biological responses that have helped humans survive for thousands of years.

In the short term, survival mode is essential.

It sharpens your focus, increases your reaction time, releases stress hormones, and prepares your body to protect you from danger.

The problem isn’t entering survival mode.

The problem is staying there long after the danger has passed.

When chronic stress, trauma or prolonged adversity keep the nervous system switched on, survival mode can begin to affect every area of life.

You may experience:
• Constant anxiety
• Emotional numbness
• Exhaustion
• Hypervigilance
• Difficulty feeling safe
• Trouble relaxing or finding peace

Your body wasn’t designed to live in survival mode forever.

It was designed to move back into a state of rest, repair and healing once safety returns.

Healing isn’t about fighting your survival response.

It’s about helping your nervous system learn that it is safe enough to let go.

So if you’ve been living in survival mode, be gentle with yourself.

Your body has been doing everything it can to protect you.

Now, your healing journey is about showing it that survival is no longer the only option.

🤍 Your nervous system isn’t working against you—it has been working for you all along.

Healing isn’t about forgetting. It’s about becoming free. 🤍

One of the biggest misconceptions about healing is believing that one day you’ll wake up and the past will simply disappear.

That you’ll never think about it again.
That you’ll never feel the emotions.
That you’ll never be triggered.

But healing doesn’t erase your memories.

You may still remember.
You may still feel.
You may still have moments where old thoughts resurface.

The difference is that those memories no longer control your nervous system or define your present.

Healing changes your relationship with your story.

The trauma becomes a chapter, not your identity.
The wounds become wisdom, not weakness.
The memories become part of your journey, not a prison that keeps you stuck.

One day you’ll realise you can talk about what happened without reliving it.
You can remember without falling apart.
You can honour your past while choosing not to live there anymore.

That is what healing looks like.

It isn’t the absence of your story.

It’s the freedom to carry your story without it carrying you.

🤍 Your past shaped you, but it doesn’t have to define you.
