A TASTE OF JAPAN // Yesterday, our Care Facility residents were blessed with a very special visit from a group of Japanese Exchange Students who have been hosted by St Paul’s College.

The students delighted our residents with a wonderful selection of traditional Japanese songs and dances, before spending time together teaching the beautiful art of origami.

Morning tea was also enjoyed, providing a lovely opportunity for everyone to connect, share stories and experience a little of Japanese culture together.

A heartfelt thank you to the students and St Paul’s College for sharing your time, talents, and culture with our residents. It was a truly memorable morning!

DEMENTIA AUSTRALIA MEMORY WALK & JOG // What an incredible morning at the Dementia Australia Memory Walk & Jog in Redcliffe on Saturday, 6 June!

We are so proud of the 12 members of Team Peninsula Palms who laced up their walking shoes and joined hundreds of others in raising awareness and vital funds for people impacted by dementia.

Together, our team raised an amazing $1,836 for Dementia Australia, contributing to an outstanding community effort that saw the Redcliffe event exceed its fundraising goal of $120,000 and finish with a remarkable $124,492 raised.

The Memory Walk & Jog is one of Dementia Australia's largest fundraising events, bringing communities together across Australia to support the hundreds of thousands of Aussie’s living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. Funds raised help provide counselling, education programs, support services, advocacy, and vital research aimed at improving care and working towards a future without dementia.

A huge thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and supported our team. Every step taken and every dollar raised helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.

May at Peninsula Palms Retirement Village // What a wonderful month it’s been at Peninsula Palms Retirement Village! May was filled with friendship, fun, connection, community spirit and plenty of opportunities for our residents to stay active and engaged. From weekly exercise classes to keep everyone moving, to relaxing coffee shop mornings shared with friends, there was truly something for everyone to enjoy. Residents participated in:

GET ACTIVE. BEAT DEMENTIA // Only 3 weeks to go until the Redcliffe Memory Walk & Jog! 💙

On Saturday, 6 June, the team from Peninsula Palms Retirement Village & Aged Care will proudly be walking, jogging and running together in support of people living with dementia, their families, carers, and the important work of Dementia Australia.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve already received, and as the event draws closer, we’d love your help to continue raising awareness and vital funds for dementia support services, education, counselling, and ongoing research.

MAY VILLAGE BUS TRIP // What a wonderful day out for our May Village Bus Trip! On Tuesday, residents departed the Community Centre at 9:00am and enjoyed a comfortable coach trip to the beautiful Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. Everyone spent the day exploring the stunning gardens, relaxing amongst the shady surroundings, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Residents had the option to bring along their own morning tea and lunch (and picnic amongst the shady teas), or purchase refreshments from the Café. Thank you to everyone who joined us for another fantastic Village outing! 😊

This week, we recognise National Palliative Care Week 2026 - a time to open important conversations about palliative and end-of-life care, and the difference compassionate support can make for individuals and families.

At Peninsula Palms Aged Care, we believe everyone deserves care that is personal, respectful, and centred around what matters most to them. Palliative care is about living well, your way - focusing on comfort, dignity, connection, and quality of life, with a Christ centered approach.

This year’s theme, “Getting to the heart of it. Big Questions. Real Answers.” encourages honest conversations and greater understanding around palliative care and end-of-life planning. These conversations can help reduce uncertainty, provide comfort, and ensure people receive the care and support they deserve.

With Australia’s ageing population growing and conditions such as dementia increasingly affecting families across the community, awareness and access to palliative care has never been more important.

During National Palliative Care Week, we stand alongside individuals, families, carers, and healthcare professionals in advocating for compassionate care for all Australians.

On Saturday, 6 June, Peninsula Palms Retirement Village & Aged Care will proudly take part in the Redcliffe Memory Walk & Jog to show our support for people living with dementia and the incredible work of Dementia Australia.

More than 1.7 million carers, family members and friends across Australia are involved in caring for someone living with dementia. This is why we’re aiming to raise as much awareness and funding as possible. On the day, our team will be walking, jogging and running together to help stop dementia in its tracks.

We would love for you to join us on the day, and if you’re unable to attend, a donation of any size will make a meaningful difference. Your generosity helps provide vital services such as counselling, support groups, education, and ongoing research towards a cure.

Together, we can make a real impact. Every contribution, big or small, is deeply appreciated and truly means the world to us.
